Agreed, I have these behind my TVs, actually went to Home Depot last night and picked up a few more since I'm trying to run some cables from a room to my 'server' that's going to be in a closet.

https://www.amazon.com/DataComm-Elec...f_=as_li_ss_tl

Only issue is that my Sanus mount allows me to pull the tv up to ~26in away from the wall and I use that once in a while, you have to make sure your cables are extra long, and not braided as I found out the hard way lol.

The cable cover was used for the old “stand” and I haven’t removed it yet. I ordered a cable grommet that’s used on desks, and was going to pass them down through the top of the cabinet. I hadn’t even though about them going through the wall… In the right most 36” cabinet there’s an outlet, I’ve already trimmed around it and there’s a power strip in there that I’m going to mount to the back of the cabinet. The wall pass through might be the way to go.

Made a little more progress. Got the shelves done, and added some in the middle section so the TV doesn’t look so awkward. Also decided to go a different route as far as trim goes. Gonna knock ALL the trim out over the next few days.

A lot of yard stuff lately. Finally replaced our shed that the tornado killed. I need to build some steps and I will probably do some landscaping around it in the spring.

I repainted the biergarten table.

Built a little slide/climbing wall thing for the kiddos. We are going to eventually build a playhouse near it.

And my dad built a 4 post lift for storing the kid cars.

Garage List
Finally!!

What a freaking journey... When we bought this house the previous owners had a really nice hot tub installed. Unfortunately when we decided to start using it, we soon realized that we were in for a battle. The hot tub was drained but not fully which, as we started filling soon realized, left some nice cracks in various places of the plumbing.

The list of stuff I had to learn and tackle

- started to fill the tub...water leaked everywhere from the filter basket area... Silicone sealed to fix.
- another fill, and 3/4 of the way there a jet check valve blows apart! Replaced.
- manifold elbow crack...used water weld temporarily to see what other failure points we had.
- started to fill again, and smaller jet lines had some cracks.

-ripped out the entire manifold, replaced with new, slightly different configuration. All primered and glued.

- success!

Anyone who tells you to own a hot tub wants to see you suffer lol!

Got sidelined with COVID a couple weeks back which slowed my roll on the tiny cabin. Feels good to be back at it. Realized I haven't posted for a couple weeks.

Got the walls and ceiling insulated, put up maple wall paneling, got my solar powered electrical system and lights installed, and put in a cork floor. It's all coming together!

Before and after, blanket ladder and TV are in the same spots. Stoked with how this came out. $300 over budget, took right around 40 hours total. Last piece of the puzzle is a bracket to mount the soundbar under the TV, and all cables will be fully hidden. Shout to Alfisti for the idea to run the cables through the wall.

Great work Conissah!

I been contemplating on doing something similar for a while now.

Can you give a bit more info on the trim pieces. Did you paint them yourself and does the finish match the cabinets from lowes?

Thanks!

All the trim, literally everything except for the cabinets themselves, was painted. I took the door off of one of the cabinets and had them paint match it in store, the color is pretty bang on. The finish doesn't quite match, but thats to be expected. The cabinets are super smooth, whereas where we painted is textured from the brush and roller. Not a big deal.

I used wood putty on all of the nail holes and sanded it smooth, so even though the color of the trim was SUPER close to the cabinets, they needed paint anyways. Used probably 300 brad nails, maybe more.

It looks great. Any plans for LED ambient light effects on the underside of the shelves?

Also did you end up putting a wood panel behind the tv, or is that just the wall that you color matched?

Yeah we thought about putting some LEDS in all of the shelves, just not sure what direction we want to go with it. As for behind the TV, it's just the drywall. The back of the bookcases I used some 1/8 laminated melamine (which also added some rigidity to it) but didn't want to buy and cut another piece for the TV area.

I wouldn't bother, you'll show it off once then never use it. It's not a work space like a kitchen cabinet.

Had to spend a bunch of money on our seldom-used pool. Skimmer was broken and needed replacing, plus surface was failing. I could see surface “crumbs” when I cleaned the filter. Also decided to change waterline tiles and small tiles on steps while we were at it. Entire previous surface needed to be chipped out before new surface was applied. Diamond Brite Tahoe Blue. Took almost 2 weeks to complete job, mostly the old surface removal and prep.

Ton of dust to clean up on patio, but waiting because we aren’t supposed to vacuum pool for 3 weeks and don’t want a bunch of sand, etc. getting in it. We’re happy with finished product. Less so with spending over 9 grand.

Guess we better start using it more.

Huge improvement! I don't think the price sounds bad given the amount of work and difference it made.

Beautiful pool Rick. Love the renovation, enjoy it
I like a pool, but I'd rather go to one or the beach for a couple of weeks once or twice per year than to deal with the yearly maintenance.
I'm enjoying it right now

Yeah we just had to have a pool 20 years ago when we bought the house. We used it a fair amount early on but like most people, it tailed off over the years and is mostly just a maintenance item. I am trying another pool service and so far so good. I have probably been through a half dozen of them over the years and alternated between a service and DIY.

We’re planning to use it more that we got it refurbished. We’ll see how that goes. Can’t remember the last time I went to the beach even though we’re in FL.

Key to a pool is put it in when kids are young or don't do it at all. We put it in just before Covid and it has been awesome, kids birthday parties etc have been a blast.

TBH it's a piece of cake balancing the chemicals. Just a little PH+ for us does the trick just fine for the most part. The hard part is keeping the fucker clean.
