Should we expect this design language to appear in the i4 headlights taillights interior etc?

"Our new cluster architecture is geared towards electric drive trains."

Hence we are back where we started. Which is, like I said in my first post, there are strong indicators that all the flowery language is really just describing an electric evolution of CLAR, and not an all new vehicle architecture.
ynguldyn wrote in November 2018: "If you want a clean sheet BEV, you'll have to wait for the I20. How closely the iNext concept reflects that future production car remains to be seen."

Of course, it's unclear what "clean sheet" means in comparison to the current and future CLAR and/or whether the iX sits on a bespoke platform. But it sounds like the iX is much more removed from the X5/X7 than the iX3/i4 are from their respective twin brothers/sisters (not least due to the unique body style).

Having said all of that, it is very reasonable to ask how much any of it really matters and how much is just hair splitting. I don't think the answer to that is fully known yet. But... you look at the technology coming from companies like Rivian, and even GM's BEV3, and it's hard not to compare. A skateboard sure seems like a more flexible approach than something with a firewall and A pillar - even a non-fixed one - built into the rolling chassis.
I lack your knowledge and am unsure how to understand "BEV Centric" but evolution seems logical before eventual all new for all electric.

I'll wait for the next gen X5/7 being hybrid with longer range battery only capabilities that gets charged with the ICE.

Yo...what happened to BMW? I mean seriously, what happened? Which blind mouse is making the calls??? It's just horrible the direction they're going in. Sad to see because this is my favorite car maker and I've been with them for a while....but I think it's time to say goodbye.

I haven't followed the EV space for Bmw so this is a surprise to me and it might fill a gap. Not everyone wants a model 3/Y.

It's not even close. 300 mile range is also not enough to compete. I just don't understand why BMW can't do better than this. Hopefully the BMW i4 will have at least close to comparable range to the Tesla and have the performance to match as well although this is unlikely.

To me the difference between BMW EVs and Tesla comes down to performance and quality. Choose one and you've chosen which manufacturer.

But why is a 0-60 time of 3 seconds a benchmark? Who needs that in real life? I rather have a 0-60 in 5 seconds which is extremely quick for this vehicle and bump the range to 350-360.

Right, I'm aware of ynguldyn's description as well, but as you point out, it doesn't remove all ambiguity. Furthermore it's not clear (it never is, by design) what data he used to draw that conclusion.

Yes. It's just that the eventuality you mention is a reality already for some other players. So there's significant value in understanding how far the iX has moved the ball.

I agree, but sadly the general car buying public does not see it the same. The faster the car, the better, even if they'll never use the speed. Just look at all of the Tesla vs Supercar drag race and the comments made by the fanboys. Today's set of buyers seem to equate fun to the fastest 0-60, not steering feel, handling, weight balance, etc or other items that you or I would.

It looks good. I am sure IRL it will look even better. This is proven to be always the case.
However, the range...oh God please why 300 miles on a vehicle this size? So I guess it will be a competitor of Tesla model X which at the moment has 370 mile range and they talk about some new batteries giving range of 400+. Wondering if BMW will make software upgrades over the air like Tesla improving range and other stuff.
I'm looking for a EV replacement of my X4 and was looking at model Y and secretly hoping that BMW will give us something even better not more expensive. When Tesla start production of model Y in Europe I believe its range would increase to 350 or at least I hope so. Current range of 326 miles for me personally is the very bottom I would look for but at this price is not that bad.
I've been following many EV vloggers and what I have learned is even 300 range is not that bad although it is on the low for me. Usually, what you should look for is your daily commute which it is probably 90% of your trips. On long journeys you can't make 500 miles without a single stop to rest so doesnt really matter as the charging speeds now are high. Personally, when I do long journeys I stop ever 310-370 miles but never done more than a 700 miles trip without stopping for a sleep.

Headlights and taillights no. There has been a couple of spy shots on the forum shown already and it's going to be identical to the 4 series gran coupe. Interior might be another story. I hope the i4 does eliminate the hood line though.

Any info on when this will be available in the US? My wife is looking at a Tesla Model X when her current lease expires in March 2021. This would seem to be a contender as well.

Disgusting-looking thing. Hardly recognizable as a BMW.

If anything, props on the color and side mirrors.

The first line of the OP is:

"A vision is turning into reality, as the BMW Vision iNEXT becomes the BMW iX. With time still to go before its expected U.S. market launch in the early 2022..."

BMW, start listening to your customers.

I think it'll be more relevant on the i4 than on this MPV.

If I am spending over $100,000 on a BEV, it won't be this one. Grill is ugly, and the rear end looks like the i3 on stilts. Going to pay attention to the Taycan Cross Turismo and the E Tron line. Hell, even the Cadillac Lyriq prototype looks better than this.
