Looks like we lost newtis as it was shutdown by BMW. So they can push their subscription site.

This really sucks. $2500/year? Get serious, BMW.

Where can we get equivalent of this now? I've got a few things in the works, and now stopped because I can't get values, or wiring!!

Damn, what a disappointing move from BMW.

Hope someone saved some of the pages here, this was a lifesaver when I had to bleed the brakes.

Sucks but worst case you can buy access for a day and just download everything for your car(s). Still less convenient than just going there on your phone and checking, though.

Looks like they are seeking ways to make as much money as they could every way that they could. Perhaps next they will create more annual subscription services for more stuff going forward; it's inevitable.

That'd kill their parts sales IMO.

The newTIS was a great resource. Maybe too many professional shops were using it.

It was too good to be true anyway. Only a matter of time. I still think the benefit was to BMW since it promoted DIY work for a very small community of BIMMERHEADS, comparatively speaking with 90% of BMW owners are soccer moms and dufasses that don't know where the hood release is.

Too bad they couldn’t buy the domain rights or contents and link it to BMW personal accounts.

Could it generate enough potential sales leads and business intelligence to offset costs?

You’d need to login with BMWUSA or .## site credentials, could do ad targeting, link parts to local BMW parts counter etc.

I’m sad to see tis site go down...

I agree at first ISTA was quite confusing but after you play in it you manage to find what you want. 90% of the time I use the search.

Y'all probably don't realise newTIS was not a BMW-owned website. This is just BMW AG going after illegal stuff. There is a reason why realOEM and other ETKs have not been updated since January 2020.

They have also got rid of their own corporate ETK on the German BMW.de website.

WTF!???

Torque Specs aren't a protected trade secret! And neither is working on your own vehicle! As a matter of fact, this could very well be considered a restraint of trade as preventing owners from working in their own vehicles with the free exchange of information. Problem would be if the site was making "any" $ from the exchange of information and if so, even from advertising, then BMW would have a right to shut it down.

Is crazy though, can't tell you how many forums and such with my other and older vehicles that I've learned, educated myself from and been able to perform untold repairs and mods to my cars.

So is YouTube going to be challenged next? How about Google searches? This is absurd!

We all reaped what we sowed. There have been a small effort to push right to repair. It has fallen on deaf ears. A Youtuber named Rich Rebuilds has chronicled his fight with Tesla on being able to obtain service manual level information from Tesla. He was fortunate in that the state he lives in which is Massachusetts had a law that requires auto manufacturers to provide the necessary information for one to repair their own vehicle. But what the law didn't cover are parts availability which Tesla has on lock down. Rich has had to resort to in some cases stock piling parts from totaled vehicles.

This behavior has extended to consumer electronics and will continue to proliferate until you're forced to go to a factory authorized repair facility.

On this topic, I'm checking out a possible source for a service manual. If it works out, I'll post it up.
