Looking at buying an 04 545i
I am looking at an 04 545i with very low miles, private sale through family of a friend. Carfax is clean and its had all the recall items affecting 04/05 models or N62 engine replaced under warranty, annual oil and brake changes etc.
It is pretty loaded expect for Navigation. The spec says its Nav and Satellite radio prepared - What additional equipment would need to be purchased to activate satellite radio and Nav - is the Nav model even worth looking at or cost inhibitive? If I go for it, I will probably do an inspection II immediately and change the diff and tranmission fluid. It has a slight shiver/quiver intermittently at idle in drive - which I expect could be 6yr old spark plugs and/or bad fuel, other than that its is smooth as glass through the revs and shifting. Any other advice? thanks |

I wouldn't get too hung up on the Nav. you can go out and by a really good portable Nav. for a couple of hundred dollars, mostly likely less than the cost for BMW up update it for you.

Thats what I am thinking, I have portables and its not like I need it everyday. I definitely want to hook up satellite radio though, does that require additional hardware, or does satellite radio prep mean it has the hardware and you just need to signup for service?

You can check with your local BMW dealer to see if its prewired for satellite. All you need is the VIN #. The kit is around $500 if you are already prewired. The kit is installed in the trunk.
