Almost new 2021 BMW X1
Hi guys,
I'm new to the BMW world (never owned a BMW before) and I recently bought an MY21 BMW X1 sDrive 18i for my wife. The vehicle was first registered in March 21 and has done 16700kms. Because it is a second-hand vehicle, I don't even know what equipment/package is included in this vehicle. Still trying to figure out what this car is made of. It feels to me that this vehicle is rather noisy on idle compared to any other 4-cylinder petrol vehicles I have owned in the past. Without knowing it's a petrol 3-cylinder engine, I would mistake it for a diesel vehicle. And the engine vibration can be felt in the cabin of the car more than I could feel in a 5yr old KIA Cerato. Is this the normal characteristic of these vehicles? Thanks |

You would get better feedback in the X1 forum. Maybe the moderator will move it there for you.

Having a 3 series with the same engine, I can confirm that the engine is not noisy at all, on the contrary, so this must be due to less sound insulation on the X1. But it is vibrating, and you will feel this quite a lot during idling. Also start-stop is not the smoothest.
I have the manual and I remember reading that there is additional balancing if you have automatic gear... My previous car was a diesel 118d from 2006 and for sure there is less vibration now, but it's just not as smooth as an even-numbered petrol engine. |
