some one took a blade to my car ***A fix of sorts :) ***

CA door handle, so I can't just re-spray it
thinking of trying to hide/disguise it, or even just trying some touch up paint

second time (last time in sept 21) that some toe rag has done damage to my car

WTF is wrong with people

Theft I can understand, people driving likes dicks and dinging you, even H&R's

but fu c king vandalism, I can't get my head around

See below my other thread on car damage at work

Dam those key marks on your hood made me cringe. Unfortunately there are people out there who just want to make everyone else life miserable like their own. I don't think those covers would look bad considering they would blend in with the dark paint and add some protection from future mishaps. For $42 its worth a try.

Carbon covers are a good idea for extra protection, I just fitted real carbon door mirror covers on mine not so much for aesthetic purpose but to give them more protection from an errant stone hit.

Is this the same work with the boss you were talking shit about in some other post? Maybe boss read the forum?

Anyways if it keeps happening at work I would look into some kind of hidden camera you could place watching the spot. At least you would know who it is.

I'm debating with comfort access, if it will work, but only 40 bucks not a lot to loose

LOL no not done at work, this time.

I've been meaning to get my dashcam setup for parking mode, not sure if it would have picked up drivers side door though

Oh, yes, it is!

Shortly after I got it, I had my '85 M6 keyed in San Francisco. It's only in recent years that my waking AND dreaming revenge fantasies have begun to abate.

Ironically, the pathetic and challenged individual who keyed my car did so right outside my local AAA office. A half-hour later, I was good to go and a week later got the car back looking new again. That took place after AAA had already repainted the entire car for me after a more significant paint-damaging incident.

If you ever wonder why your premiums are so high...

My guess would be someone at HD drug a cart past your car and scrapped the handle with said cart.

When I was a young lad, way back in the last century, while at work my car was parked in a gated lot. I’d worked hard to save for that car (320i 1980 I think) and took very good care of it. But the thief who broke in for the stereo didn’t care about it at all. Damage to the passenger door, window, console, etc. and of course the radio was gone and wires cut. Found it at lunch time. Police wouldn’t even bother with a report, didn’t come out.

Some people just can’t behave, or have needs (drugs or whatever) that compel bad behavior. I guess.

From that moment I’ve been careful to only buy cars that I can shrug at if something like that happens again (or worse). My attitude is to buy cars when I can afford to lose them, not when I can afford to buy them. That’s given me peace about anything happening. Touring Spartanburg helped too - apparently they make several every minute, so they are easily replaced.

Sorry it happened to you; don’t let it overwhelm an otherwise pretty good life. Fix it and forget it, or leave it if you really think it will happen again.

Actually I think for us car guy's it is, I'll take it back what I said.

We lavish love on our car's hell we wont even put the car through a carwash with a brush for fear of damaging it.

We ceramic coat it, we put PFF film on it, we even wrap the car.

In my case I saved a lot of money to get a New car with help from my PX, actually this one is my first new car I ever bought.

This morning, I woke up feeling VERY unsettled, very mentally unsettled (a lot of things happening) I even dreamt I came out to the car, and somone had put a knife through the top, it was also thunder storming outside, in my PJ's I literally ran out to check if my windows were open, doors locked, any scumbags about.

Damage to the car otherwise, though I dont like it I can understand, but vandalism is just different, it is almost like you have been assaulted.

You can fight back, call a cop, put a bullet in the perps head, you know whatever to make it right.

But coming back to a keyed car is a different level of cowardice, especially as this is 2 events now on my car.

I really wish, I had thought to check the car in all 4 stops that day.

I should have seen the handle as I always use the comfort access

I was thinking about the cart thing.

I've done that to my car myself. Usually it'll take a bit of clear, and muddy the top coat,

The paint on our cars is very good, see how much force it takes to scratch it.
It's through, the clear coat, top coat and the primer,, it's down to the plastic,
if you feel it with your nail you can see how sharp and deep it is

That was no accidental drag, don't forget my wing mirrors are also in the way, you would need to literally RAM it up against the handle with some force.

Although it is a straight line and most key'sing I've had has been irregular

at this moment in time to keep sane, I'm trying not to think about who and how.

Not feeling safe when you drive or park your car, is a very horrible feeling !

txs !

problem with CA door handles, you just can't respray then due to the capacitance effect.

I have been working on some ideas to maybe hide

the covers (as posted above) but not sure they will block the CA from working
maybe even a thin black stripe (or a non black)
masking the line up and using a tuch up or rattle can, just to duisguise

it's white on black at the moment which pulls your eye to it

when that car it washed and waxed your eyes will get drawn to it

txs guy's. pics never show the full thing, but when "I" walk up to the car and I'm right on the door, I can just make out the shape of the pinstrip, so I doubt anyone else is even looking that close.

but yes, 100 times better, the shade of black is pretty close and as it's only a small sliver it's not really noticeable

txs all
