I'm #2 in line at my dealership with one sold and delivered so far. Hoping for June news as well.

Here in Canada, dealerships already have production numbers and months (not schedule week mind you) for the cars up to end of calendar year, so yours should as well. Shoot me a PM and I can give you more details.

Weird. My local dealer is informed of their allocations monthly, rather than yearly.

Yep in US you are correct. Canada is only getting about 80 cars this year, so they were all told up front.

Order Bank limbo(?)

I'm (ostensibly) on several waiting "lists" with different dealers here in California, and have one documented order bank slot. But this quote from one of the internet sales managers pretty much sums up my experience so far. I was particularly amused when hearing about the "California mark-up"

"We have slots coming up later in the summer. As for your exact location on the list, I will have to check with our manager who is handling the orders. Since they are all going for over MSRP with the California mark-up, I am not sure how that will change your positioning. It would depend on you and what the price is going at the time. They are a limited production car and that affects the pricing."

As am I. Number 1 has a different meaning than usual in this context, apparently...

This is something your dealer can't tell you and not do. BMW financial uses production status to determine things like lease extensions.
A BMW dealer can in fact absolutely tell your production number and should be expected when ordering a car. This is how you can track the vehicle on the my owners portal of BMW site or to get info on an ED.

Wake up. The dealer can't tell the buyer their car is in production and not provide a production number.
