Exhaust on e60

Hi everyone, I have a 528 e60 and I decided to do a muffler delete because I really loved how it sound for its money, but when I got in a car shop some guy ask me if it’s better to do a big hole before the muffler to not completely cut it, I agreed and picture below how it looks now. But later I start to realise that this is was not a really good idea because pipe is going to rust . So is it better to put this piece back or it’s better to find some valve pipe and put it instead? Any thoughts ?
