good Snowboarding Gear info?

Does anyone know a website were I can get good info on Snowboarding gear?

I am going to Whistler Canada for a week, and it's been so long since I've gone, I need to re-outfit, but I don't want to cheap-out and be miserable the whole time. Likewise, I don't want to buy anything I won't need.

Thanks.

What are some of the things I need to look for?

I saw a lot of the jackets have an elastic band around the waist (with snaps in front), is that important?

What type of goggles do you recommend? I remember liking the yellow tinted ones, because they brought out details in the shadows late in the day, but some dark ones might be nice in the morning.

Amber googles are my favorite. They are good for both day and night riding. Be sure to buy gloves or mittens with an inner liner and elastic band. The elastic band is so nice if you have to take your glove off for a minute. Also make sure you buy good pants and a coat. The last thing you want it to be cold or wet while you are out riding.

Do you already have a board?

Its definitely nice to have. Keeps the snow out when you bail. I use it everytime I ride.

Really a lot has to do with personal preference/style. What one person loves, another person won't touch. As long as you're going with an established brand, you're set.

Being up in Whistler, you'll appreciate the snow-skirt (elestic band in the waist of the jacket). It'll keep you from getting a chest full of the cold stuff when you take a tumble.

For goggles, I only rock one kind... "the goggle" by Arnette. Basic, but perfect. Try some different brands on, you'll find the one that fits your face best. I had a handful of pairs with a bunch of lenses, but all you need are a Mirrored lens for the day, and an Amber or Rose tinted one for nights and overcast days. I personally think the Rose lens are best at defining shapes in low lighting conditions.

Make sure your pants and jacket have venting, and don't go with stuff that's too thick/warm. Layers are key to controlling your body temp.
