The 1/2 orange bit sounds interesting. I'll have to try that.

Cracked open the Dewarts 12. It's okay...I guess. Nothing great. Maybe I have higher standards now?

For my first 'rita tonight, I went with 2oz tequila, 2oz+ lime juice (two squeezed limes), and 3/4oz agave syrup. Might try a small triple sec floater on the next one.

I found some hard ginger beer and am having a "Kicking Mule" with some Appleton Reserve Blend (nice) and some Key lime in a proper copper over crushed ice.

I know it's a takeoff on a dark-n-stormy, but I like the name I made up...

Tasty. Different kind of drink from my usual 'rita made with a limeade mixer. With the limeade version, I can make big, ice filled drinks that are supremely swillable. Great thirst quenchers without the worry of feeling like crap the next day. These 'ritas take a bit more care. And the fresh squeezed lime juice is way more acidic than the limeade mixer. My aging stomach notices that. This being my second drink, I've now gone through 4 limes.

Typically those limeade mixers have high fructose corn syrup in them which changes the dynamics of the drink and does the same thing as in using sodas..aka coca cola, sprite, etc.
Now you are onto a more pure formula. I still would recommend making a simple syrup. I made some Margaritas last week and used Jose, simple syrup, limes and ice. Basic and nice and I felt pretty good.
