OMG, that is just wrong! Glad you weren't hurt and landlord is paying for it.

We are in the process of putting a new lateral line in on our house in Florida. Had to stay at a hotel last night. Sewage coming UP through KITCHEN sink and tub. Gross me OUT! Plumber said he hasn't seen anything like it. $3,600 - sweet.

Something to think about - even once the ceiling is fixed chances are you're going to have a bad problem with mold. That stuff can really make you sick.

I had a house that lost a couple of shingles in a windstorm. About 1 o'clock in the morning during a heavy downpour I started hearing a drip, drip, drip above my bed and looked up to see a waterspot growing on the ceiling. I got up into the attic and found the culprit. Fortunately I had some angle aluminum outside in the shed. I brought a piece in and wired it in such a way that the drip fell into the angle and drained out throught the soffit. The next day I went out and found a roofing company to fix the roof that was in need of all new shingles.
