Sara - if you're looking for a new experience, MOVE! ...but like yomama said, if you're making for example $10/hr your cost of living is $10,000, an increase in wage by $5 is worth it if your cost of living only goes up marginally, say 11-12,000. however, if your cost of living goes up to say $20,000 - there is no point, but it is all up to you, and what you think is right

A bit more specific than milk and honey please...

Land of Milk and Honey is California... (but most known as Israel).

What about NYC...if you no longer needed a BMW, would you rid of your car?

Sounds like going from Utah to California is going to be a big increase in life expenses. However, taking a promotion will definitely open more doors for you down the road.

I dont think saying no would mean getting fired. Especially if your boss just said you would be OK, but another promotion would not be avail for a while. But anything is possible.

If you do decide to go, the skiing better be as good if not better or tell them to GTFO

California is great! Love the weather, girls are hot, it is the land of technology, and immigrants.
If your living in Southern California I would recommend Manhattan Beach. If your moving to Nor Cal I would recommend San Jose, Saratoga, Los Gatos, or Hillsborough.

it is great, but it depends how much you make too. All the places you mentioned are pretty steep to rent with the exception of SJ...well parts of it at least.

CA in general is expensive, but depending where you live you can save on rent. Gas is more, food is more, going out costs more, but in the end it's worth it once you watch a sunset or take a drive along the coast...it all comes back to why you love it here.

haha so i guess since we figured out that she is moving to CALI, what part of cali ? if its LA following would be good.

Santa monica - great place, lots of things to do and places to go to. bars , clubs, malls, beach.
Pasadena - its a good place, pretty quiet and relaxing. (saw a lot of old people though)
The valley - Not the most exiting part of LA but things are nice, chill and fun, we are about 20 min drive from the beach. people are nice in general.

I drove down Pacific Coast HWY on the way from Santa Barbara to Newport Beach 2 weeks ago in an E92 M3...it was AMAZING. I'll never forget it.

Is this a serious question? Common sense would tell you if your offered a promotion and it makes sense then why wouldn't you take it? People relocate all the time, your nothing special. I'm not sure who the drunken troll was that offered you a promotion but I'll be nice for once and tell you don't pass up a chance to move up in your company.
