Has anyone ever said NO to a promotion?

Im facing a decision that requires another location change. It means a lot more $$$ in the bank account but its relocating me to a state I've never lived in before.

Thats what I was afraid of. My boss told me I had the option to say no but it would be a while before another promotion would come up again.

If it's in the career field of your choice - then you really should take it. Moving up takes sacrafices, especially in this economy.

If not, fuck it.

In my company, if it is something big like that, and you turn it down, your basically stuck where you are forever, they won't offer you another opportunity again. Now if it was a small interoffice promotion, you could say no, but not something like that. There might be a good chance that you will have to move companies to get that kind of opportunity again if you say no.

Used to live up there. Oakland County (Detroit Metro) is the wealthiest county in the US. Wayne County (Downtown Detroit) is a fucking shit hole. As nice as Oakland County is, Michigan is still depressing as fuck.
