I did a HALO jump at dusk out of a C-17 with lightning below. Some jackass disconnected my oxygen prior to the jump and left me scrambling... all with a broken ankle.

I've been wanting to go for years now but can't find anyone with the balls to join me. Guess I'll have to be that loser who dines out alone.

I would advise you to try it and if you like it you might consider getting licensed and keep doing it on a regular basis |

1-Go out to a drop zone. You will find that everyone there is having a blast. Listen carefully when jumpers exit. They are having fun! If anyone is scared it's while they are in the plane. Once outside....... Yeeeee Ha! 2-It's nothing like you think. Go for it but be sure to wear your seatbelt on the way there and back. That is where the danger is. ///Rich |

And you only have to wear your seatbelt up to about 1500 feet. |

Was so stoked to go. Rode my Harley up just for a little more adrenaline. Ended up about 1/2 way there stopped at a truck stop because it was 31 outside, and I couldn't feel my fingers. It was about 2 hours away. Got there, all perfectly stretched out so I could arc properly. Picked out my music (Forever Young - Alphaville). Suited up, got in the plane. Second to last to get out. Tandem was like "1, 2, 3" On about 1.5 I'm pushing back into the plane as hard as I could, not wanting ANYTHING more to do with this. Screamed for 14,999 feet to the ground. Picked up my video tape (yes, get off my lawn) and showed it to family/friends once in a while. I need to get that tape converted to digital |

InsaneM nailed it. You either get hooked or the one experience is enough.
All it took was one tandem jump for me to get hooked. I'm not 100% that it would've been as magnificent if my first jump hasn't been in Hawaii but it checked off a lot of moments lol. Flock of birds in the air, check. Pod of whales in the clear ocean below, check. Instructor who clearly had a death wish and let me take controls on my first time, check. |
