Non-RTF tires on 528i + sport?

I have Dunlop SP 01 Sport RTFs on my car and they're at about 50% thread life. I also just had a flat in one tire and a replacement would cost close to $400.

I am tempted to switch to regular tires (Pirelli PZero Nero All Season - cost about $160 per tire versus $360 for the Dunlop).

Would regular tires work on the 528i + sport and if not what are some of the issues? BMW Service center recommends RTFs (of course).

RFT

There is no issue for going with non-RFT. You'll actually have a better ride. The RFT are pretty hard... You'll see many people here switch out theri RFT for regular tire. The only issue is with the spare, or lack of.

Thanks

Thanks! That helps...

The positive in my situation is that I have a full spare in my trunk...it's a continental 17" tire.

yeah, if you have a full spare I would go with conventional tires. It cost less and most punctures can be fixed compared to RFT. Only negitive is you'll have to change the tire. But we have roadside service. GL.

yup, definitely agree with 330.

i have some rft on staggered oem 19"s and they are definitely has a harsher ride than the oem 17" non-rtf.

go with the non-rtf...its cheaper and rides and handles better.
