I had a nice little fund that Started at a couple thousand when I was a baby from my grandparents. I threw birthday money into it here and there for a while. Came out to about 25K when I was 20. Shat down to about 2.5k after the market took a shit. Now I'm almost back up at 10k from a nice investment when the market was still crap. I spent all the money I made when I worked for almost a year out of school.
So I guess that leaves me with 10k in stocks and not a penny to my name? |

No worries. Its all in E-trade so its not like I actually have the money. I dont know how to do taxes either, so I dont have a clue how to take it out either lol. Oh well, it'll be a downpayment for something after school in a few years. Glad I bought me a whole bunch of GE @ $6
But in reality, I'm broke. School costs roughly $1k a week in classes alone. |

Not the slightest clue. I knew I wanted to go to grad school so I did the community college for Sr. year of high school and freshmen year of college and a state school (albeit not my state) for the next 2 years to get out early and save money. Now its 4 years of grad school at a moderately ass-raping price. Fortunately my parents are footing the bill for the moment, although I told them I have absolutely no problem taking out loans at this point. They claim I can buy them their retirement home so ehh, what the hell.
I'll still be broke as today the day I get out of here so as long as GE doesn't go bankrupt (sure as shit hope not), I'll probably need it to get into a shit apt and buy my ramen noodles for a year or two while I look for a practice to take loans out for and partner in. |

I also had about -$20,000 when I graduated from college (at 21). Credit card and student loans FTL.

I had none... parents paid for my college. I was very fortunate as I saw friends working through college. Never worked until maybe half a year after graduating.
Last time I bought GE I think it was at 17... sold at 17... didn't know it went that low.

After college I had about $5K saved for a down payment on a BMW, My future wife found out how much I had and decided that was about the right amount for an engagement ring. I was soon back down to $0 for the car
That ok she was worth it and now I have my 335i I paid cash for. |

Several large in the bank but wasn't actively saving while I was in college. However, I came out of college with $0 credit card debt so in some ways I was miles ahead of my peers.

You're definitely ahead of your peers if you walk out of college without debt. I know plenty of people who were in my major that were already close to $60k in debt when they walked out (state university). Then there are the other kids who are $200k in debt from private colleges that take out more loans to get through grad school and wind up in even more of a hole. Shit like thats hard to get out of. Takes years.
The dental school at the university I'm at is 92k a year. Those kids are going to be eating dog food for years after they graduate. |
