I think it's the best rifle I've ever shot. It's simply amazing how light FN was able to make a .308 platform. The thing is lighter than some of my ARs, and with nearly the same amount of recoil for a much larger/hotter round. It's extremely easy to handle, and just does everything I could ever ask of a rifle. Honestly I don't see how it can be improved upon, it's just unlike anything I've ever shot before. The only real issue I foresee is the weight of carrying extra ammo due to the size/weight of .308 rounds, but that's not the guns fault.

I put the charging handle on the right because I have a reciprocating bolt version. By placing it on the right, there's zero chance I'll ever get SCAR bite. It doesn't bother me at all having on the right side as I've been an AK shooter for decades so it's second nature charging on the right side.

Wish us luck here in Illinois. “AWB” passed the house and on its way to the senate. I can’t wait for the lawsuits to roll in.

EOTech EXPS3/G45 and magpul fore grip installed. This gun is so damn sexy

I am looking into the Giselle scar trigger, but I would like to see how OEM shoots first.

Correct, but this function is according to gun laws disabled, only semi is working.

I thought you could have machine guns in Germany. Or maybe I’m thinking of another country.

OK, I'm not exactly a neophyte with regards to military style civilian rifles but I got to ask a dumb question.

What makes a SCAR a SCAR? How is it different from and AR15 or AR10?

I figure safer on this forum to ask and get nice answers.

And I won't see the answers for a while. Boarding a 16 hour flight soon.

No, for civil owners only semi is allowed, so buying a e.g. MG3 would make no sense, since it isn't allowed to be functional.

They're completely different platforms, but most notably your standard AR rifle uses a direct impingement gas system while the SCAR uses a short stroke piston system more similar to the AK variant rifles.

Thanks. Do would the solid piston ARs be considered SCARs? I think Daniel Defense offers uppers that use that system,

I’d do a quick google search if I were you. Like I said before they’re completely different platforms. A piston driven AR is simply a piston driven AR, still not a SCAR. While their lower receivers look similar the upper receivers and nowhere near the same.

Yep, and it's supposedly hell on optics (though does allow the folding style rear stock!). The thought of breaking my ACOG worries me, but word is the optic will hold up. If not, I'm going ELCAN and not looking back.

I like the Eotech + magnifier combos, but boy does that setup add a lot of weight. I've also never liked the eye relief on the eo+mag combo. I feel like I need to get about an inch away from the sight to be able to get a clear picture, but I'm sure others have better success with the setup.

Have the setup on my .308 Tavor and the entire package feels twice as heavy as my 17 with the ACOG/RMR. This gun will likely be sold before too long as it's just been sitting since I've had the 17.
