Anyone watch Top Gear? M5 review question
Does anyone know why Top Gear reviewed the M5 twice?
Links there for the two different reviews. I tried looking up episode guide/listings for Top Gear and it shows that the M5 was on the show in 2003, 2005, and the Touring version in 2007. What gives? |

what's with Jeremy bashing BMW all the time?
for this review, there were so many unfair criticisms he pressed the track up button instead of volume up if he wanted to go back to the original station, why not just hit track down? as for the indicator, it takes a bit of getting used to but once you get the hang of it, it's nicer than the conventional type and finally, about the M button 'changing everything'.. he just likes the way the progressive throttle feels unnecessary biting. the only criticisms he made which I agree with were about the badging and the SMG |

Well keep in mind they have to form opinions of cars based on driving it over a weekend...or maybe a week. Whereas we have had months and months of actually driving our cars. As our relationship with our cars grows over time, we learn to accept the quirks...and naturally we aren't as critical.
I for one agree the stupid BMW 3-flash indicator option is annoying. I tried to live with it for about 3 months. Decided to go back to the 1-flash indication mode. Jeremy Clarkson doesn't hate BMW. He just hates American cars. Jeremy Clarkson has said several times that he loves the M5. So much so that he has said he would rather buy the M5 than a Ferrari F430...given that it is more pratical, cheaper and drives just as well. That's pretty high praise. |

I think JC was just to point out some of the problems of M5 buyers might encounter.
Mind you, there's still a LOT people who does not feel comfortable using a computer, and of coz a car full of electronics and computer. But as a Driving Machine....Jeremy loves it, poise, precise....its just a masterpiece. He loves the M3 and M5 (besides the look)... He was trying to praise the AMG E-Class wagon which has a mute button for the satnav....but the funny thing...after he pressed it...it still telling out directions....his face was like so confused... And he spent "the whole day" trying to use the voice command to place a phone call on previous S-Class...

Actually he doesn't. He likes to poke fun at the BMW stereotypes. He actually loves the new M3 as well as the M5.
I think his opinions are valid on most accounts. |

No shit, I was cracking up. It was like a flashback to the '80's except for the bluetooth. I think too many people take his comments seriously, when he's hardly a serious person.

Word to the wise:
If Jeremy hates te car at first he will love it at the end. If he loves it in the beginning he will hate it in the end

+10000. Still entertaining to watch and I love the comedy in the reviews, but he usually does love/hate every car he drives.
