COMMENTS

Here is the U.S. 2016 model year production map for your reference.

Some of the notable changes:
• 340i to replace 335i beginning with July-August production
• 328 eDrive plug-in hybrid begins production in November (more details)
• 550i GT stops production
• All new 7 Series (G11) begins production in August (more details)
• All new X1 (F48) begins production in August (more details)
• First X5 eDrive (xDrive40e) begins production in June (more details)
SOP = Start of Production for demo and initial stock cars.
Start of Regular Production is for customer ordered cars.
S = SULEV
SA = South African built

With any model that you see on the schedule, expect it to hit U.S. dealers approximately 2 months after production begins.

Thanks Jason.

The End Of Production is just for that model year, is that correct? F87 looks like just an 8 month production run...whereas F82 has 16 months?

Thanks Jason. Can you confirm that the production code change on the F80 indicates an LCI? In the other thread, the OP seemed to backtrack on that a bit...

The 550i GT is ending production?! There is a God! LOL!

Also, it looks like the 2016 M5 will begin production in July 2015. I wonder what changes there will be? Hmm...

Compare it against 2015.

Based on the M4 retaining it's model of 3R93 from 2015 to 2016 (No LCI), but the M3 changing from 3C93 to 8M93, I'd say that the M3 is getting LCI'd.

Notice the other 3 series also changing to 8xxx from 3xxx, which are all receiving the LCI model treatment.

Yeah, I think that's the popular consensus, and a logical conclusion. Just looking for more confirmation

Seems that the 5-series F10 platform has a longer than normal production run as a 2016. EOP on 10/2016. Does this mean the new G30 platform will be a 2017 model for the US market?

Scott any confirmation in regards to this?

Yes, G30 5 Series will arrive in 2016 as a 2017 model for the US. - As we've been reporting: http://www.bimmerpost.com/5-series/g30/

Some very interesting M5 news coming up later today though. Stay tuned to the homepage!

The change in model code should represent this?

I think G11 is regular and G12 is long wheelbase (just like F01 and F02).. which means only LWB for MY2016 I guess. Is that typical for a new 7?

I really like the idea of the GT variants, especially since wagons seem to not be contemplated much for the US markets. I just think the BMW versions leave a lot to be desired, from a looks perspective at least. I haven't ever driven one.

That looks like a typo to me. Notice that SOP and EOP is the same as F83.

Only the rear wheel drive version is ending production.

2016 F80 will be an LCI. This is 100% confirmed at this point.

It's not typical. What is typical is that list gets updated throughout the year. So I wouldn't be surprised to see G11 added to it pretty soon.

The only changes the LCI F80 will have are the rear tail lights as they will be switched to LEDs and a new light pattern like the F30. As far as the front end or any other major design, it will be the same since M cars do not receive LCI treatment to the front end.

Big mistake by BMW, that would have given the Macan S and Audi QS5 a run for their money, the engines Audi offers in the Q5 blow away the X3/4 (Diesel and S versions) along with the trims (softer leather, sportier exterior/interior).

Also no Diesel option for the X4 in the US but the X3 has it? thought they would add it for 2016 model year, guess not.

I guess all this wait will be worth it for the rear lights then!

I'm hoping a couple new paint options? Or is too much to ask for at this point?

I am pretty sure LCI F80 should be getting ZCP as well...

The GT's in the NA market are just proportioned very oddly. It's a really unappealing look. The same utility is achieved in the 4er GC, X4, X6 etc. in a less awkward package.
