$14B and counting. It was projected to be a $3B project.
On a very sad note, how would you like the be the husband whose car got smooshed by the 30'x10' piece of concrete, having to climb out the crushed driver's window, after seeing your wife as a pancake beside you? I figure fixing that fiasco will cost the nation's taxpayers another bil or so. First the leaking tunnels (that go under the harbor), now the damn things are falling apart. |

I spent 3 years in Boston and that whole big dig area was RIDICULOUS. It always amazed me how a city with such high levels of education could have such a poorly designed traffic and transit system.
After the money spent on that tunnel system, its a shame people were hurt like that. I remember seeing a newspaper article where they mentioned that $1billion was "missing" from the budget. Talk about corruption.

Ohhhhhh man! What a joke! I lived there for 4 years...and they opened up the main arteries just before I left.
Last I heard....it was at $16B....and going. They had tons of leaks/flooding during the very first rain storm after it opened! When I drove through it....it already looked ghetto!! It had just opened and already it was dumpy, dirty, and looked 10 years old!! I am glad I no longer live there.

I might have to disagree with the most corrupt state in the union - unfortunately my state (Louisiana) will give any a run for its money on that front. |

Same thing is happening right now about the tunnel damage. The person hired to replace the person fired (back in 2001), is now getting axed. How about crushing some of those companies that are responsible. Modern Continental (who hung those concrete ceiling panels) should be responsible for all civil and criminal penalties that will be smacked down on this state, due to that terrible accident. |
