Long story short, guy gets thrown out of a ‘business establishment’ late Friday/early Saturday morning. He gets in his truck and attempts to run over people on the sidewalk. He crashes, people drag him out and beat him to death.

Here’s my take. He wanted blood/death for others so he got what he deserved. Call me cold but hey, best not to win the Darwin Award when in anger.

many who defend people or property where shoot to kill is used leave in cuffs and lawyer involved. if the Prosecuting Attorneys office has enough to convict some form of murder is key. legally someone or group is responsible yet getting a conviction slim chance.

According to the article, there’s no mention of anyone who has been detained. Someone might rat but they’ll need to look at any surveillance footage to see if they can get any positive ID on the persons of interest.

Pulling him from the truck and detaining him is okay, but beating him to death once he is no longer a threat is murder. But dude probably deserved it.

Maybe, maybe manslaughter but I'd like to see video of the assault, the likelihood of a conviction isn't great.

Possibly, depends on the law in that state. Going back to my ccw law class I took, once the person is no longer a threat anything more than detaining them could result in charges.

I don't disagree, but mob mentality, anger, fear etc. I good lawyer might have fun with it.

Key elements: Bar. Alcohol. Verbal Altercation. Pick-up. Attempted vehicular homicide. Death.

Nothing good happens after midnight in most places. Especially here.

The best advice I have gotten from a cop buddy, "don't go to stupid places, with stupid people, that do stupid shit." That is how you stay alive/out of jail.

That's what bites you in the tail. You can't retaliate because you're afraid, mad or driven by a mob. Once he was out of the vehicle he was no threat. Doesn't mean he didn't earn an @$$ whipping. However, in my neighborhood growing up we believed in "don't bring no trouble, won't be no trouble".

How do you know he was "no threat", that would be for a court of competent jurisdiction to decide if charges were laid. Since none of us were there the best we can do is armchair quarterback. Given my experience though a good lawyer can do a lot of damage to a prosecution especially since the behaviour that led up to this doesn't put the deceased in a very good light. Just my two cents though.
