Human Kibble

I know Soylent exists but is there a good human version of dog kibble? An all around nutrient rich and complete food stuff? We buy the best dog foods we can get and even those aren't as good as raw of course. I just envy how easy are dogs have it.

With my wife and I running two small businesses plus multiple time intensive hobbies it would be nice to have something quick and easy to eat. I know, "meal prep is the way", not going to happen. Just tired of eating out and I'm tired of products hiding horrible ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, sugars, lectins or soybean oils.

Thanks for ideas.

I would be looking into healthier (lower calorie/higher protein) take out options or maybe even a local meal prep service before considering any kind of “kibbles and bits”. There are some OK mail order meal prep services too if you search around but my experience is they are typically frozen and not as fresh as something local.

Instead of "The Farmer's Dog," it's "The Farmer." I could totally get behind a product that *cleanly* delivered all necessary nutrients, but since everyone's metabolism and makeup are different, it would need to be customized. For example, I do best on a high protein, high carb, and low(er) fat macro distribution. I've tried variations all over the map, combined with body scans, and that's what works for me. It won't necessarily work well for someone else. Many will decry carbs as evil. So that's really the impetus for meal prep, in spite of being a pain in the ass. Only you know what your body truly needs, and by prepping you have complete control over macro's. I do not go crazy with prep. It's a few pounds of chicken maybe once a week in a slow cooker and four cups of rice in another. I will eat this lunch and dinner. Vegetables can piss off, but I will have a few pieces of fruit. Saturday nights, I allow myself a meal of indulgence, which is not only good from a mental/emotional standpoint, but it helps fill any nutrient gaps I've formed over the week. But if there were a food service that had the capability to pelletize my food based on a custom macro distribution, I'd be all over it. But Saturday nights it's the food equivalent of "The Purge" for me.

I've done the Factor meals and all the other meal kits, all still are pumped up with crap and can't eat them on the go. Factor was the best no doubt. I need to strap a feed bag on, not something I need a microwave for.

My man gets it! Food is fuel, why do we need it to be so complicated. Dogs have many options for different body types and or needs. Are you bigger or smaller, just change the cup size to fit the kcal you need.

My brother changed his mindset to only think of food as fuel, he looks like freaking GI Joe while I look like humpty dumpty. That said I'm fighting a lot of health problems which doesn't help my situation. The Dr. tells me weight control and energy is going to be an issue so I don't be too hard on myself. Just getting tired of everything and I'm at a breaking point. When I see how easy it is to keep our dogs fit I think there has to be a better way for humans.

I know you stated meal prep is nah....but tacos are my go to...Marinate and grill a bunch of meat(chick thighs) on sunday and place in ziplocks.. Egg bakes for breakfast..

I've heard of people getting large takeout orders/family meals from chipolte or similiar and doing meal prep with that.

Ppl laugh but buying/preparing/eating food is a HUGE waste of time, I really wish there was a pill that I could magically take to get full and all the daily nutrients. Take out my stomach, guts, liver, etc and put an extra brain in there or something lol. Maybe future humans won't need any digestive systems and nothing's gone to waste and we don't even have to go to the washroom anymore. Who knows? Eating food is actually a necessity, not a luxury, so it's funny how ppl have this way of thinking about it, holding some tv chefs as 'gods'. Oh wow, they're making stuff we have to eat in a different way, whoopie lmao.

Ya, Soylent was a good idea but I don't believe in it. It's a start in the right direction though.

Buy some bulk products you like and make your own trail mix? Nuts, dried fruits, skip or add the chocolate as you see fit. Keep a fanny pack lined in plastic with your mix and reach in as necessary.

Yeah, see your dog kibbles do not have it so great. Imagine just eating from that fanny pack 24x7x365. Even if you get a few rotations (dog food brands) it will get pretty old.

Dogs have a basic metabolism that is different than your, in general.

Meal prep for the week takes me 30 minutes on sunday night. Now you have to be ok with eating a lot of the same stuff eat week, but that does not bother me at all. Grab and go is my goal.

Thank you all for your responses.

I've temporarily found what might work for me. I've ordered a month worth of Huel to have for breakfast, lunch and in between. I've also ordered Factor for dinners. I'm not a fan of Huel not using any meat products but I figured Factor will help with that aspect. This will give me everything I need and will be easy to keep track of my intake.

Dang, that Huel looks good for lunch in the office. Bought 3 bags of hot and savory. Can't be much worse than a can of Campbell's Chunky.

Just the sample bars. 7-meal bags probably won’t fit

I remember when they pulled that out the dog

If I were closer, I'd punch you in the shoulder in a brotato kinda way, then we'd head over to the bar It would be a softer punch, my shoulder is still recuperating. I moved up in my set weight to 2 lbs yesterday!!!

I didn't order the hot meals, saw a decent amount of people saying that they aren't very good. Have you ever looked into Factor? It's a microwave meal that's actually decent and ready in 2 and 1/2 minutes. They aren't frozen so just a mini fridge will do.

This thread makes me uneasy. And I'd happily eat the same basic thing again and again for weeks... But I just don't buy the whole "this snack bar has everything your body needs" angle. YMMV, obviously.

Look after yourselves!

Back on topic,if eating clean and healthy were easy everyone would look good. It's gonna take some dedication to achieve that;looking for the quickest fastest way to get something done isn't always the best. Sounds like some of you are a bit lazy when it comes to fueling your body with the best foods, yet you still want to look and feel your best. I dunno.

There is no substitute for unprocessed whole food, set aside 30-45mins and you can cook 3-4 days worth of healthy food&then repeat every 3-4days. I've done it for 30+ yrs and I HATE MEAL PREPPING and eating the same basic stuff day in/day out. My homemade oatmeal/banana/protein shake for breakfast everyday takes less than 3 mins to make and consume and it's all natural. But I want to look a certain way and there are no short cuts to that;so to each their own

I probably ate PB&J lunch for four years straight in HS. MAYBE I went rogue and switched it up with honey every now and then.

These days, especially for lunch, I simply have no idea when it's going to happen. I get a quick break somewhere between 11:30-1, gotta grab something fast. 3 minutes pretty much warms up a can of anything.

Since it's now just the two of us eating at home, about once a week the wife makes dinner. I TRY to do better, last night was a steak salad. And a Diet coke, no alcohol.
