Good purchase. To save 25 or 30 K is really smart. You have an awesome car. What is your MPG in the City? That is about the only concern I would have with that car. Enjoy. How is the ride? Is it overall smooth or does the ride get bumpy on bad pavement?

I'll test MPG on next tank fill up. I know its over 20 though which is better than the Jeep I had before. Roads here are pretty cruddy and I have not had any problems or concerns with this car and the sport suspension. Car drives like a dream.

I have an 08 550i with the manual, steptronic trans. It's the BOMB! (Carbon Black, sports pkg, nav, head up, etc, etc.!) I love putting it in manual (when I'm not sitting in traffic) or flipping it into Sport when I really want to show off! The only thing I'm not really crazy about are those low profile wheels! They look nice enough, but I'd rather have something more durable!

Now that you've lived with it, what do you think? I'm debating 2008 550i vs. M5 and could use the feedback. Thanks!

I love it. Part of me wishes I would have gotten an X5 4.8i Sport but I think that is only because a week after I got my car my wife got a huge bonus check from work that we were not expecting lol. I was also looking at an 06 M5. In fact my wife told me a couple times to just buy it but I just couldnt bring myself to do it. I "plan" on keeping the car to 100K and I just know any repairs on the M5 would be more than I want to pay. Plus, I was not a fan of the SMG when I drove it "normal". 550i is great compromise.

Congrats on your new purchase! You won't believe the power in the 550...I've had my CPO 2007 about a month now (10K miles on the odo!) I upgraded from an 04 545 and absolutely LOVE the 550.
I had an 07 335 cabrio and how I miss it...but I also had a little one, so it had to go. I found the 335 had great takeoff, but the turbo lag hurt. the 4.8L in the 550 is a monster- I call mine 'The Beast'. Good Luck with it! |

Congrats on the new ride. A year ago I looked at a new 2009 550i with the M sport package and MT. Nice car! I really enjoyed driving it and even with the 19" the ride wasn't too harsh. Nice handling sedan with a smooth great sounding n/a V8. It seemed perfect for me.
I didn't buy it because the safety ratings on the E60 is abysmal. And the side impact is the lowest of all mid-sized sedans in the class. It's really unfortunate. It stopped me from getting one, but I'm hoping they learned and the new F10 will be much better rated. Except the downside (for me) is that they won't be offering it in a n/a V8 anymore. I want the old motor and the new body. |

I got out of a 550 sport to get into my M3. The M car is in a completely different world. I'll never go back to a normal car.

my run flats were new when I bought the car but when they are well worn I will switch them out. If it was not for the little ones I would love to have an M3. But practicality said get a 5 series, though now I wish I had gotten an X5 even though its made in USA. I am surprised that as large as the trunk is on the 5 I cannot get a folded high chair into it and our double stroller barely, and I mean barely, fits.
For a big comfortable family sedan it still rocks though. I wish I had bought a different set of wheels for the winter than the ones I got but oh well. |

2007 550i
I have had my 550i for one week. I love the power and ride. Great car that does not look like a race car, but can perform like one. I do not have the Sport Pkg, and I think the smaller rims and larger tires help with the ride. All in all, a great car for half price vs. new. Took it too BMW dealership for brakes that did not pass inspection, and they fixed and washed the car for no payment. So getting a car under 50k miles was big.
