I enjoyed a 2007 X3 for 10 years. Nimble and practical. Recently drove it Tampa to LA. Great long-distance cruiser. A son has it now and just took it all over the US and Canada. I've thought about picking up a used later gen as a DD/winter vehicle.

Do you recommend only the N52, what about the M54?

Thanks for the great suggestions guys. Any car I buy I will buy a warranty in the past the good aftermarket warranties have paid for themselves.

I want something good in the snow and fun to drive and fun doesn't mean fast which is why the wrangler is on the list.

I've decided to up my budget to around 35k which opens up more options. Macan s with the twin turbo v6 is topping the list right now.

Acura is a great car. I've had them in the past but can't justify the $ to car ratio when at the end of the day it's just a dressed up Honda.

Using that logic, the Macan is just a dressed up Audi which is just a dressed up VW.

Get the Wrangler. Or an STI, if you really want to have fun in the snow.
