Best REAL office prank you guys did?

Holiday season and wanted to lighten it up a bit.

Last year, I took my coworkers unlocked phone and replaced his wife's number with mine, then texted him that "I'm pregnant".

Needless to say, it didn't go down well, but worth the memories of him freaking out.

Took away intern's desk and placed the desktop computer on the ground in the exact spot while said intern was at lunch. Came back from lunch and intern asked where his desk was while typing on the ground. Told him big boss thought it was too nice for an intern. Bosses played along.

Few years back we happened to get new vending machines at work. They were pretty modern looking. The minute after the installers left, me and co-worker slapped a sign up on it saying they were voice activated and to "say your selection and the buttons didnt function" went in there during lunch and saw a line of people literally yelling at it. Some people were like "these are brand new! why cant I get my snack!!"

Some of the girls were like... "is it my accent? Am I talking too fast?" I died

We also flipped his desktop upside via alt+arrow up (or something like that). Dude couldnt figure it out so literally turned his monitor upside down and used it like that for a while

Years ago we changed the pc-mice vice versa but only from desk to desk. Additionally we've taken screenshots of the desktops and deleted all shortcuts before settings the shots active. Last action was to stripe the earphone-sides of the telephones.

Now whats happen next? The two returned from lunch and somebody ranged the phonebell. Needless to say that the loundness was nearly muted and so the guy starts to shout immediately, parallel he was starting to move his mouse and occurs no movement at his monitor but the colleague at the opposite

Had taken a few minutes more before they'd realized to got screwed up by us and even more time before they got it, that there werent any shortcuts but a very proper screenshot...was priceless.

But since then we have to lock our workstations before leaving

One of my first summer jobs was picking strawberries. I was about 13, and this damn fucking bully was really mean to me. He fucking stole my harvest once and he gave me shit for not having breasts. And the fucker threw berries at me!

It felt epic, until the police called my parents since his parents made him go in and explain he made a girl cry and bleed.

I got told off by a very amused officer . Apparently boys are fragile and girls shouldn't mess with them.

We had Macs at work and the old MacOS had a "Startup Items" folder that would launch any app in that folder when the Mac started up. So we moved the "Shutdown" app into the Startup Items folder on one guys machine. So he comes in, turns on his machine and goes to get coffee. When he gets back, his Mac is off. He's like "hmmm", tries to start it up again, it goes through the startup process and then shuts down. Took him quite a while to figure out what was going on and how to fix it. We also unscrewed the ear piece of his phone and put clear tape over the holes so when he answered the phone, he couldn't hear the other person although the other person could here him.

One of my co-workers removed the wheels on my chair and glued my phone to the desk and glued the handset to the base. He thought it was really funny.

So, I came in early one day with a whole box of instant oatmeal. I made 6 packs of it and dumped it in all his desk drawers. Needless to say, it took him a whole day to clean everything in his drawers.

An old bosses office had a door with a small full length window just to the right of the door so you could look into the office as you walked by

Took clear plastic and taped it to the INSIDE of the door frame and the window frame and filled the window with shipping peanuts

Took same plastic and taped it to the outside edge of the door frame top to bottom

You now have a pocket about 2" deep from bottom to top

Filled it with packing peanuts too and left the door open

The visual effect is one where the entire office LOOKS like someone filled it with packing peanuts

And we took his laptop and put it outside the door on the floor to complete the effect.....

It yielded a very genuine sounding "WHAT THE FUCK!!!!" response when he approached the office.

Start to finish it took about 10 minutes to set up....and only took about 10 more minutes to clean up.

I was working in the body shop at BMWNA and we had tool boxes supplied to us. Each tech had their own supplied box. The shop was being transfered to the new HQ in woodclif lake so they wanted the red boxes painted black. We had this jackass named nick in the group. This guy took 6 hrs painting his box. He was SO proud and took the whole next day wrapping pieces of green tape around his sockets and other tools. A few weeks later the sales rep from Car Bench came in and showed us all the features of their bench system. We needed some tools so Nick grabs his box and brings it over. Towards the end of the demonstration I took 1 of the sockets and removed the green tape. I put it back on top of his box right where it had been all day. He starts putting his tools away and can't find this socket. He started loosing his mind. Accused the group of stealing his socket and was blowing a gasket. After about 15 minutes I couldn't hold my laughter any more so I went over to his box and acted like I was helping look for it. "Oh you mean THIS socket" I said. I just turned and walked away. Half the group was in on it and we laughed about it all through lunch.
