Move in! You already have the BMW!

Plot twist: Just realized that OP said newer BMW. You can drive a newer BMW for just over $10k. (2011 328i) I could swing those payments. I do wonder what would happen if I had to pay for maintenance though.

I do remember a friend driving an old mid 90s base model 3 series and saying that for what it was, it handled and felt really good.

Maybe I should pay to play.

My father-in-law had an E36 328i and my friend has a E36 M3. If you can deal with the maintenance they are pretty fun cars to drive on a level that today's relatively disconnected cars rarely come close to.

i guess it depends on what model of BMW are you driving. driving a 3er is probably the same or cheaper than my next door neighbor's Tahoe or Infiniti. But if you say driving a new 7 or M6 then that would be different story. but to each his own. priorities are different for everyone.
to me i would live in an average house with cars i like even if i had a Lambo of F car
i don't need a mansion and drive something like a Camry that i don't feel anything for

It looks like something that would be used as a film set for Jersey Shore. Can I be Ronnie? I've been working on my biceps and stuff.

You can be Ronnie. I always liked him the best too.

Then again, Pauly D was my favorite.

Who is Biorin going to be? What about bimmette ?

Could be a nice spin off thread - who from OT is which Jersey Shore character?

I agree with wuufer001 Average house in nice(r) neighborhood and fun toys.

Pauly was the most likeable, and charismatic. Along with Vinny. I think Vin was the one that seemed to be the coolest. Tara would probably be Sammi.

Biorin would be the show's producer, lurking and capitalizing off of everyone else's stupidity like she does every day on here.

How did you avoid the fiasco of Sept. 2015? I lost so much that I'm just now back to where I was prior to that collapse.

Live in apartment. Makes sense for me right now since I'm still at the beginning of my career and single. Moving up in my career will likely mean moving, and moving is easier when you don't have to sell a house.

Amortization schedule on a 30 year mortgage is all interest anyways the first few years. Add in sales cost and risk of having the market flip, and it's just not worth it for me, at this point in my life.

And, if something goes wrong, I just let my complex know and they fix it. Nothing out of my pocket.

I also travel a lot for work. It's nice having UPS/Fedex deliver packages to the office instead of leaving them by my front door all week.

The way I look at it is if you can't afford a place to garage the BMW then why buy one (or any other nice car for that matter). Save your money for a new pad.

Well, what happens if I can't find a place to garage a crappy car? Not buy a car?

If the car is crappy, I doubt someone would worry about a garage for it.

Somebody said they live on Rodeo Drive for $1500 a month? LOL... maybe a cardboard box in the alley... That's about the going rate for a shithole in the ghettos... Unless you have roommates maybe?

More power to you if you pulled it off but they don't have rent control - unless you are in a very old building and SOUTH Of Wiltshire Blvd... I'm speaking from past experience having lived there before for many years... Bev Hills / Century City...

Notice that all these listings say "SOUTH"... That's considered the "poor side" of Beverly Hills... North BH? Fucking insane... Point is, even the shitty old apartments listed with no heat / ac and old plumbing is substantially higher than your $1500 a month on Rodeo Drive...

This reminds me of an ex who called me one day to tell me she finally got her own place and not mooching off her parents... When she told me where she moved to, I was confused because I know the pricing and she was only paying $500 a month... Turns out it was one of her father's properties so technically still mooching and probably cost her parents more money now than her living at home...

I owe $53k on my house(15 year mortgage), i can easily sell it for at least $225k. I'm glad i didn't rent in the last 10 years.
I've owned about 5 BMW's in the last 10 years, not to mention 2 sets of coilovers, sets of tires, racing is a hobby so no regrets but nothing to show for it.
I'm in a better position today than if i rented an apt in the last 10 years.
