2008 550i - Thoughts?
Looking at trading in my 06 330i for a 08 550i - Any things I should look for, potential problem areas? Car has 46K miles on it--Fully loaded--They are asking $38K

I hope it is a CPO! Hopefully it is so you get the 100k warranty. I would definately inquire as to its maintenance history, thats a lot of miles for a two year old car. Personally, I would look around at other '08s around that price and see if the price is average for the mileage. Good luck!

i agree...i heavily considered an 08 550i this summer before getting my 545i...i found a lot of deals here in the Metro Detroit area. I almost made a move on an 08 550i carbon black metalic w/ 19k miles and tons of options for $41K from a local BMW dealership...i think you can find a better deal if you expand your search a bit...

Get an E60 ///M5 You won't regret it Remember - at the end of the day - the 550i is still a 550i it's no M car No Disrespect intended - the 4.8 ltr in the 550i is peppy but you're still down over 140 hp to the ///M5 That's a lot of power to throw away - You can get a good M car for around the same price - Do it man !!! |

285ferrari: Have been hanging in the background on this site for a while and doing alot of reading as other memebers have provided some great advice and insight but wanted to add my 2 cents as I just went thru a similar situation as you.
I recently picked up a 2008 550I with 20,000 miles, clean Autocheck record and love the car... Fully loaded, color is Deep Sea Blue, Natural Brown Dakota interior, and full M Aero package. There isn't a day goes by that I don't get compliments from garage attendants etc. and the car has so far met my expectations and then some. (I came out of an Audi A8L so totally different driving experience) As other's have said it is not an M5 which absolutely WILL be my next rig BUT when it's all said and done, an M5 will run you north of $55to $60K for a 20,000 mile car (just checked BMWUSACPOs) versus the low to mid $40s for a 550I with similar mileage. Go CPO whatever you do, it will come in handy in the future. I have owned mine for approx. 60 days and it has been a blast. Starting to do some simple MODs/updates but like I said, gonna keep it simple. With all that said, if you have the coin go M5 but if you dont, the 550I is no slouch and you wont be disappointed... |
