Engine Malfunction
Good afternoon all
New to the forum For the past 3 weeks I have been getting engine Malfunction warning light with fuel pump message. I have changed the LPFP, HPFP, sending unit and filter, even the EKPS, I have also change the fuel line that runs from the sending unit under the car on the drivers side. Then the car gave me a code for the starter changed as well. This morning I started the car and it gave me a hard sart as if there was no gas in the car and the engine malfunction warning light came back on again. Ran the scanner no codes, however there was a pending 1/1 on the scanner but didn't list what it was and the fan kicked in at high speed. Shut the car down gave it like 2 Minoans ran the scanner again gave the same message. Started the car again no engine Malfunction warning light nor did the fan kicked on in high speed. Drove the car for about 15 miles at about 70mph and it's driving fine. Has anybody had this problem? Car has 117,420 purchase from a doctor 3 months ago and have all of the service records from BMW last thing that was replaced from the deal was expansion tank and alternator in September of 18 Please hit me back with any thoughts on what it can be. Thanks guys |

Have you tried looking at your low pressure sensor or hpfp sensor? the low pressure sensor is located under the intake manifold and on the line going to the hpfp. the hpfp sensor in on the top rail above your motor

Thanks Chuyser for getting back to me.
I have not look at them due it not giving me any code, however this morning this is what I got, I have attached the photo. It stated low pressure on the fuel rail bank 1. Don't know if there is a sensor for that or do I have to replace the complete fuel rail system |

So after replacing both the lpfp sensor and the hpfp sensor I still have the same problem with engine malfunction fan kicking into high speed on the scanner it is telling cold start fuel pressure too low bank 1, all cylinder misfire, random misfire detected. At this point I am at a lost I have almost replaced the fuel system. Please anybody out there having or had this problem please provide some insight. It will be greatly appreciated

I have not replaced any of the injectors on the vehicle. The issue here is the car did not give me a problem or a code just the fuel pump and then it went on from there with the additional pump, and module, sensors. Could this be a bad ecu problem. Due to cold start up Malfunction and engine Malfunction only in the morning or after 2-3 hours once the engine cools down. Once the car is warm or hot and start driving it has tons of power and drives like a dream.
