Your Opinions On Motorcycles?

thats terrible. Not wearing gear is like not wearing clothes when going to a business meeting. Anyways, i think you guys have pretty much convinced me to get a 250cc. I will keep you guys updated. Thanks for your help guys.

I always wanted to purchase a bike over here, but when I saw pics of this accident, I decided not to... A lot of things can go wrong, and most variables are not in your control

Affording a decent car is not a problem. Getting a bike due to high risks and high insurance whilst my parents not being too supportive about it is.

Dude, you can't think like that. Let's say you live your life through 40 years down the road and you have seen and expericed many things in the world wheather they are good or bad. And you have a son and he asks you, "Dad I want a bike?"

I might not be able to relate but i understand why they don't want me to get one. Heck i wouldn't want my children to get one either. So their reaction to me getting a bike is pretty understandable. Heck they said we'll buy you a decent bimmer instead. My answer was no thanks. I honestly don't really care what i drive when it comes to a everyday car. I drive an 2000 Honda Odessey(mom's) to school everyday. Today i took a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim(dad's winter beater) to school. I just really really want a bike. I'm hoping it is worth the headache i'm going through to get it, and not a dissapointment.

Just found this thread, and found it quite on-topic for me: I'm looking at picking up a bike as well.

My take:
Suzuki SV650 for me, all the way. Probably the "hottest" of the good-for-beginner bikes. But still very very entertaining for seasoned riders. 650 cc V-twin, good price, great mid-range torque, nice sound, good handling.

Check out some of the sv650s on youtube.

Oh, and I will never ride without my body armor, 'cause it's the only thing between me and the steel-and-concrete outside world lookin' to put a whole lotta hurt on me at 50 mph...
