Just took home the X1 today

We just got back from the dealer with a 2023 X1 today. My wife is in love with it, and I have to admit, it's a really nice car.

Congratulations!

When I was looking at replacing the touring my dealer had me test drive an X3 M40 and although not an SUV man it was probably the best SUV I have ever driven. Even setting the B58 aside. Just a really quality vehicle. Enjoy

BMW's best products right now are SUVs. They make a misstep here and there, but their SUVs are their best stuff.

Just because their SUV’s represent a huge part of their volume doesn’t necessarily make it their best stuff. I happily drive a Z4 M40i and I along with the other members of the G29 forum will agree to disagree with you.

That's fine, you can disagree. You can be wrong, lol.

All jokes aside, I just think that BMW's most compelling products vs their competitors are their SUVs.

I agree that their SUV's are best in class and the key word in that description is the word "CLASS".

I wish they made a CUV option the X1's size but with the RWD biased B58 setup in the X3 (which has gotten way too big imo).

When I think of the X1, I think of a supped up CR-V or RAV-4 with a nicer interior. Still appreciation some of the fun color options they have like that Lagoon Blue though.

I bought the new X1 for my in-laws last year and I was shocked at how nice it is for the price

Unless you want to pay the extra bucks for the S58 engine in the X3M the B58 engine which you will find in many BMW models is totally reliable and is powerful for virtually all of our driving needs.

BTW, the X3 M40i is a 2024 model and it was replaced with the X3 M50i in 2025. You should have some negotiating power when making a deal on a 2024 car that your dealer definitely wants to remove from his inventory.

I like the X series but I can't roof mount a bike on an SUV. I'm only 5' 7".

Here is some articles for bicycle racks that are suitable on SUV's that don't have to be mounted on the roof.

If you do a Google search I am sure you will find more.

oh no, I won't tail mount a road bike. I lost a nice Trek that the oppositions insurance company refused to cover.

I am not saying you did something wrong but I see them on SUV's all of the time. I wouldn't purchase a cheaply made brand and as long as I followed the mounting instructions I would feel comfortable using one.

I think he’s saying someone crashed into him and the at fault driver’s insurance company refused to pay for the bike that was destroyed.

Until that z4 comes with x drive and an s58, I'm sticking to my x3mc.

Where does the X1 fit in? Does it have more space than a 3 series?
