How honest are you?

On a scale from 1 to 10.

Clearly 10 being 100% (don't be a flamer, nobody should be here)
and 1 being never.

I'll say what I feel needs to be said to your face, but in my "work" position, I have to bend my opinion at times, mostly so I'm not ejected from the plant. Under normal circumstances, I still need to bend things in conversation whether meeting new people or people I've known my whole life.

I'd say I'm a solid 8. The only time I filter what I want to say is mostly at work which consumes most of the day. Outside, I've been chalked up as a few choice words, but I'd rather tell it how it is, than BS in a circle to spare some feelings.

What about you? Hows your "filter"? Work? Work and home? Wife? Kids? Strangers?

I pretty much yell at ppl (even those senior to me) at work on a daily basis to remind them of the truth and the facts.

I need to get out of here, that's what I need to do.

If you're talking about communication with others and being candid, then I'm about a 7. I've learned that it is often better to keep my thoughts to myself, especially at work. Many of my colleagues have worked together for many years and I'm still the new guy. It's too easy to misinterpret things when you don't know the history between two people.

I've also learned what kinds of things Wifey will obsess about, so I avoid those subjects. For instance we have a couple of outdoor semi-feral cats. If one of them is looking in the front window when I'm going to bed and I say something, Wifey will start wondering if the cat is cold or hungry or why it's looking in. Eventually she'll get up to go feed it even though there is already food out. So I keep my mouth shut.

I don't consider either of those things to be dishonest, though. I'm just withholding my thoughts.

a vendor took us out to lunch yesterday, my boss and another guy had 3 drinks. The vendor and I had none. Do I turn them in and have them lose their license? No. So I guess I'm not that honest, but I don't think it makes me dishonest.

Due to my job, being brutally honest is a requirement haha I've just gotten better at wording my honesty so people understand it's not personal haha

Yeah I'm kind of over it. I shaved it off yesterday because it was irritating in my helmet. Well most all of it at least, need to keep something otherwise I look like I'm 15 again.


I prefer people to just tell it like it is. I mean, if someone is insecure to a point that a differing opinion upsets them, then there are clearly bigger problems at hand.
