My lovely girlfriend just closed the garage door on my car

There's literally no point to this thread. I just needed to vent somewhere.
I had my car moved back a bit to work on it and it was just far enough for the garage to scratch it's way past the trunk, both inner and outer tail light and part way down the bumper before the part where it flares out triggered the resistance failsafe and pulled the door back up.

If it makes you feel better, I did that twice all on my own. At least in your case, you have GF to blame

So now you need to decide between using the car insurance or your homeowner/rental insurance to pay for the fix.

She may already be in a body bag or busy packing her stuff and left her key on the coffee table. As I told the last girlfriend, I think you need to make other arrangements.

I did this once myself. Not gf's fault. Just me, myself, and I.

Truth I'm only as bummed as I am because i'd just finished wrapping the entire car just before New Years and it needs replacement already. But shit happens, what can you do right?

If I'm being honest, I'm more so to blame here. Though I have asked her countless times to keep an eye on the garage when she closes it just out of general safety reasons, I also made no mention that I moved my car in preparation for work.

I also placed our obstruction sensors only a half foot from the ground as we usually back in to the garage and it's our front lips that stick out furthest

Luckily the car has no body damage, so no need for insurance. But the vinyl on the trunk, bumper, and rightside body panel need to be replaced. And it turns out she already bought me new tail lights intended to be a surprise as I'd mentioned wanting to try out the blackline style tails a while back

My buddy's wife accidentally drove their SUV into their garage with the kayaks and rack on top. Let's just say there was a lot of damage and a really strained marriage.

Homeowners policies will exclude coverage for motor vehicles. Other personal property might be covered but not your car.

on day two of owning my car I tore around a corner and the curb reached out and rashed one of my wheels so bad I could hear it over my stereo. I so wanted to just throw the whole car away I was so pissed. But I got it fixed and never thought about it again.

Buddy did something very similar with bikes on roof then drove into garage. Destruction was crazy.

The look on her face was priceless, but she shot herself in the foot.

What's she doing in the garage anyways? She should be in the kitchen....

Whenever I have a vehicle parked near where the garage door could or will hit it, I always set something in front of the sensors that keep the door from closing if there is an obstruction.

Been there; done that. Just call your automobile insurance, and they'll take care of it, minus your deductible. I waited a month, because I did't know how to proceed with it. Very easy. It's just a car.
