Pros: It was a great riding vehicle. Actually, one of the best rides I have ever experienced. The cabin was roomy, the ride was extremely smooth, the leather seats were comfortable, and the sound system rocked. I had tons of room. I read many articles that the ride was pretty identical to the RR. Never had a problem with it (only one dealer visit for a recall). Cons: Gas mileage Gas Mileage Gas Mileage Almost too big Spongy in turns I had it for 6 months, sold it, and got a 335i. I did this because even though I really like the Land Rover, I missed the speed, handling, and gas mileage. The 335i's ride is not as good, and the sound system isn't either, but there was just something about coming out of a sports car into an SUV that made the life boring when driving the Land Rover. I had to go back to a sports/sporty car, and the 335 seemed like the best car available for that price range. I don't regret it one bit. However, I think you will be happy with the switch if gas mileage, handling and speed are things you can do without.

Ive driven RRs, and I dont get the desire to go fast in one. I've also driven several older X5's, both 4.4's and 4.8s, and they make me want to go as fast as I do in my 330.

i cant understand the reasoning for driving enthusiasts buying SUVs.
if you have any interest in driving, and need more praticality and space than a coupe or saloon can offer, get a fast wagon (as hard as that is in the US). i can understand the justification for an SUV if you are just a shitty driver and want to be able to hit crubs without rashing your wheels, or have no interest in driving and just want to look cool in a cool looking car, though. Sure some may be off-road capable, but that hardly applies to anyone that buys them. Nobody is wheeling brand new RR's off-road anyway. |

do what you like and what you feel is the best fit for you.
Living in SF/Bay Area, an SUV does come in handy, but it's not needed THAT much. Gas prices kill here...about $3.50 to 3.75 per gallon. If you can hang with that, then you're good. Parking in the city is a bitch as with any metropolitan areas. Spaces are small, and there's not enough of em. Not to mention the often bumper bumping when parking. lol If i had a choice, i'd keep the 3 and buy the RR. Best of both. I personally don't like SUV's but as i'm getting older, i see a need for it from time to time. Just not everyday commuting use. |

S2K's are great cars. My whole idea of the RR sprung from one of my buddies who drives an LR3 and loves it. He switched to it from a turbo Saab. He was driving the LR3 on some back roads at home, deer popped out, while avoiding it he rolled it but walked out with a broken finger because he stuck his hand outside the car as it rolled. It was totaled, he got another one. The headlights on it make night look like day, probably twice the output of my E90 xenons, (his is 05, so not active, but the newer ones come with that). I will be moving out west and will live with one of my best friends from college. He doesn't care about what he drives, so he has a beater. We are working in the same company, so his car will be the bitch regardless. This will effectively remove a lot of my gas costs. My car will end up being the go out / haul a lot of stuff / vacation car. As with all things, it'll take a little bit of getting used to not entering off ramps at 60 mph, but that will have to have someday, sooner or later. Still a very hard switch.

you have more chances of tipping over in the RR as opposed to the 3... and studies showed that side impact is taken worse by SUVs than cars... + the RR will cost u a dung load more in gas not really adding much I guess... but better than a +1 + a 3 is sexeh RR is a soccer mom's car

Are you looking at the RR or RR Sport? Big difference in $$$, but I prefer the Sport over the full size RR. I don't think the ride will be different, and the Sport is better looking, and it's not much smaller. Have you had any luck with your decsion?

The full size RR. I don't really like the look of the sport.

look into the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, fastest SUV on the planet and handles as well as most cars with a ability to off-roading too.

False. Much as I hate to admit it the Jeep SRT-8 is faster and the Hennessey version is untouchable.
