Belichick GOAT??

Getting ready for some great NFL games today...living in Dallas I obviously want the cowboys to win tonight, but the Steelers Patriots game is the must watch game today.

Hearing so much about how, no matter what happens for the rest of his career, that Belichick is the greatest coach of all time. I get how brilliant the guy is, but he is a known cheater...spygate anyone? Does anyone agree with me that he can’t be considered the GOAT based on his tainted past??

Simple answer no.
Seems like most people only have a memory back to 2000.

Hmmm,
All time winning percentage .738
6 Time World Champion
Trophy is named after him

GOAT = Vince Lombardi

Free Agency Matters

Vince was great. However free agency happened and that changed everything. I think you have to say before free agency and after. Bill is GOAT in the free agency era. Vince is the GOAT before free agency.

I think you have to take into consideration Bill's ability to get a guy with a year or two in the tank and make him an all pro. Also, he is ruthless at cutting a guy just before he falls off the peak. There are so many guys that we lamented that were traded, and they did nothing after they left the Pats.

One think that cannot be debated, is that Bill is Cleveland's greatest mistake and "The Curse of Cleveland".

LOL

GOAT = Vince

There are no qualifiers - like before or after free agency. You’re the greatest of all time or not.

If sleeveless can win another 1 or 2 Super Bowls then I would consider him as possibly the GOAT coach.

Ask any football expert who does not have a bias against the Patriots for their dominating success over the past 16 years who the greatest coach of all time is and the answer will unanimously be Bill Belichick. It is absolutely a completely different game than when Lombardi coached. Look at the stats, let them soak in, and try to calm the hate.

You have to separate the two time periods. What free agency did was pretty much established to level the playing field. Dominating your competition back then was easier when you retained the same players season after season. What B.B., Kraft and the Patriot front office have done over the past 16+ years is astonishing when you look at the revolving door of players through out that span! Like them or hate them The Patriot way is a real thing. There ability to evaluate talent and let guys go and replace them with mostly unknowns and cast offs from other teams is unmatched by any other team. Add in key injuries that would decimate other teams, the Pats plug in the next man up and keep winning. Oh...and it helps to have the GOAT TB12!

GOAT - NO WAY

BB did not choose to play Brady - he rode the pine until an injury to Bledsoe.
After making the playoffs in Cleveland BB led the Brows to a 5-11 season.
The refs had to make up a non-catch call against the Steelers last night to try to give the Pats home field in the playoff.
Deflated Balls !!!
Spying !!

Being a Bills fan I'd like to think all the Pats success is just luck but it's not - he is one heck of a coach!

Ummmm, he did pick Brady in the 6th round with the 199th pick tho. And to be clear, by the letter of the rule it was called correct by the league officials...No Catch. The Steelers still had plenty of time to win the game, but they didn’t. There is no conspiracy to help the Pats win, if anything there should be one to see them lose. B.B. preaches situational football, and that is exactly what you saw on the Steelers fake spike play. The Pat defense was not fooled and Big Ben made a bad decision. Game over.

I agree with the OP. I'm not sure you can be called Greatest of all Time if you get caught cheating, at least once. There is always going to be a level of doubt as people look back and wonder what else did he get away with.

Back on topic - enough debate about the f^ ruling last night.
I can't stand NE (mainly b/c of their arrogant fans) but I think BB is still the GOAT. He can take a scrub and make him play the system and win SBs. That's real coaching. He doesn't have the best talent but he certainly makes the most of his players.

Thank you for acknowledging what B.B. had done. I’m in no way arrogant, just stating some facts. I know a lot of people dislike the Pats for all sorts of reasons. And I understand it. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But hey...”to be the best you need beat the best”....Rick Flair

LOL it was sarcasm.

I agree with the call last night on the catch. Watching the game with my son and I said watch they'll do a fake spike... and Bingo.

Only comment I have on such a great draft pick is IF they thought Brady was that great they would not have waited until the 6th to take him - that's a fact.

Fact - Brady wasn’t great and they(B.B./Kraft) didn’t think he was great. But they saw something so they took a chance. Not much to lose with a 6th rounder if it doesn’t work out. Brady worked his way to Greatness. Watch the “Brady Six”

Look at the current offensive line, AND, they are still winning (forget about the Fins), indicates what sort of coach he is.

Certainly in my time, and I'm early 50's, he is the GOAT!

Thank you, I’m sick of having to explain it! And also your fooling yourself if you think teams don’t try and walk the line between what is acceptable and what isn’t. What about Bounty Gate and the Saints? No one ever mentions that?!?!?

No hate hear at all, I have great respect for what B.B. has done with players and getting the most out of them, but you want to look at the stats and let them sink in?

I believe 12 or so guys who played under Lombardi went to the hall of fame. There will only be 4 maybe 5 for BB.
