Correction: There is no such thing as a 5th year med student though... 4 years med school, then residency (on salary). Finances/money is a personal thing, and yes, I was blessed to be born to great, smart, educated, hard-working parents... but did you ever think that maybe b-day, x-mas money collected from childhood and put into savings or stock/investments (yes, all with the help/managing/advise of parents) would accumulate throughout let's say 20 years?!?
