Ceramic Coating - Chicago Area Western Burbs

Hi All - I am looking to get my incoming X5M ceramic coated. I'm looking for recommendations in the Chicago Area western burbs (Naperville, IL area). Ive found a few shops - but they offer different products - Gtechniq, UnderDog, and Ceramic Pro.

It's around 2k to get this done, so asking for a trusted shop - TIA

The regional sections of the forum don't get a lot of action but you could post there also. Good luck! https://www.2addicts.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=563

Take a deep breath, and a weekend, select a respected off the shelf brand and do it yourself. Save 2 grand and have the satisfaction knowing you did it. I have done several cars, over multiple years, outcome is as good or better than professional. Prep is the basis, clay bar, perfect finish then ceramic seal. All the ceramic coating does is seal the finish underneath, longevity depends on the weather/exposure. You end up paying 2k for somebody to "polish" your new car IMHO. The ceramic coating is easy to apply.

Wow! $2,000 is a crazy price for a new car.

Adam’s quoted me $850.00 and my X5 was 3 years old.

DIY job. Clay, Paint correction with a DA. Get several pads and a good polish. Wipe down with a prep cleaner and apply the ceramic in a small section at a time. Best to do this in a garage. I didn’t do this in one day; took my time. The results are great.

This is the product from a small glass bottle and not spray on ceramic.

I’m an outsource kind of guy - and i want it done right. 100% agree $2000 for $300 worth of product and $1700 worth of mark up is crazy !

BUT - I’m willing to pay a pro and get it done right. Hence, my ask for a good shop…!

I checked the Windy City BMW car club chapter website, thinking they might have a sponsor that does it but no luck. Perhaps you could post on their FB or X page for a referral. https://windycitybmw.org/

Checkout Status Detail in Aurora. He’s extremely meticulous and has cars shipped to him from all over the country. He’s got a great YouTube page if you want to see his work.

I had two cars coated by Brighton Car Detailing in Naperville; did a great job; they use Gyeon products. Just had my X7 done and really happy.
