Ok, the Silverado dealer FINALLY got back to me today after I texted her again reminding her to give me some numbers and the build sheet for the truck they ordered.

Turns out, I could get the custom Trail Boss with a 6.2L V8 for $745/month after tax for 24 months (oddly, would cost me $799/month if I wanted to lease it for 36 months - pretty odd I thought, but that's due to the residual), so I've basically committed to her that I'll take it for 24 months.

Haven't driven one yet though. Going to see if I can harass a local dealer (the dealer I'm dealing with is 2 hours away) into letting me drive one so I can make sure I don't hate the drive. I can probably put up with anything for two years though. Dislike the fact that it only has halogen lights. Wanted LED/HID.

But I think I'm going to do a pass on the Subie now. Still hate that rear wing.

Edit: Wasn't super feeling the Silverado before, but that was also because I was pretty sure it was going to be the 5.3L V8, but worried it could be the 2.7L turbo four. But if I can get the 6.2L...well, that changes things for me. Now I'm a little more excited about a truck.

Wow, halogen headlights is a major blow IMO. You still should stay away from the Sti in any case. Remember, it's not just the gigantic wing that's the problem, the quality of the interior and the ride is shit. It's a suped up econobox just like the Mitsubishi Evo was.

I can't even imagine paying that kind of money for one either. I do find it odd that you're cross shopping two such different vehicles.

Yeah, its a major negative for me as well. But I can make that work for 2 years. Remember that we have a 13% tax on our vehicles, so divide the payment by 1.13 and it is more comparable to your vehicles, plus any state tax.

I'm an odd duck when it comes to vehicles. But I do a ton of research typically before I act and I'm usually happy with the end result. This is the only case where I've done some research, but not as much as I normally do, because my options are so limited. To be perfectly honest, what I really wanted was a Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins and preferably in manual if I could. But that is a pipe dream in todays market.

I've always had a car, time to try a truck, and it will be useful for the family to haul our bikes and skis around.

Beyond a pipe dream! Mopar discontinued the G56 6-speed manual in the Cummins trucks back in 2019, IIRC.

There are no manual pickups being offered these days that I know of.

All the more reason why I will NEVER part with my Mighty Dodge (2006 Ram 2500 Cummins G56 6-speed manual with manual shift transfer case).....

Yeah I know, but up here I think it got discontinued in 2018, last year you could get with a manual. I was willing to buy, but prices are crazy.

The only newer model I found (2017) ram 2500 with manual had 70K kms on it and the guy wanted over 70K Canadian for it. Thought that was stupid.

Was thinking CAR - corrective action response. Addresses the customers concerns. Shows you aren't just overlooking the issue, rather addressing the roots.

Today my faith in humanity was restored. I am constantly working on projects for the employer with little to no help. Had an employee come in on 2nd shift last night and built a desk for me. This is highly uncommon. Typically our employees will hide before volunteering to do anything. This has saved me a good 2 days of work. We were scheduled to have a BRC audit the week of the 19th. This got changed a few days ago and now the audit is scheduled for Tuesday of next week. This cut our prep time drastically and equally increased stress levels for many of us. I basically had today and Monday to get said desk built, 4 monitors attached and all pc cabling dressed in. I got to spend my Friday actually orchestrating next moves rather than running my ass off with tools in my hands. Buying this guy lunch next week.

...I thought I had to take my car in to the shop because my front left wheel was vibrating, so I suspected it needed balancing. Turned out the lug bolts were strangely loose out-of-nowhere so I just tightened them back to spec.

...a brand I liked just added more selection of mixed nuts at the local grocer.
