My first attempt at rig rolling shots.

...and it looks like I'm in need of a lot of help.

Here are the final products:





Here is an original. I had to use WAY to much PS to make it look halfway decent.



I only had a short pole so I couldn't get the whole car in the frame. I'll go to Home Depot to get a longer one.

Some questions:

1. Is it possible to do this in bright daylight without a filter? I couldn't get any long exposure times even with f22 and ISO100. You must have to be driving ad 50mph+ to get any motion.

2. Is it better to push the car or drive it? I found the car to be sharper when pushed (the two I posted are being pushed at 1mph max), but the motion blur obviously wasn't as apparent.

So if you guys have any tips, tricks or criticisms let me know. Thanks guys.

Definitely need a dark ND filter in the day time. I like to push the car for at least 10-15 seconds. No need to drive the car.

Be careful pushing the car too fast especially if the ground isn't completely smooth. My camera started bouncing a bit because I was pushing the car too fast and ended up putting a small dent in my roof. I'm sure the hood is a bit stronger though.

I'm using an 18mm lens. It should be wide enough, but the pole I was using was only 4 feet long.

Filters are the only way for daylight. Even at ISO50 @ f32, I have problems. A 10 stop ND filter would be awesome but need to be careful of vignetting on a UWA.

I would recommend pushing the car with the gearbox in neutral. Less vibration from the engine and only vibration should be from the road.

This was the original motion shot


Here it is finally edited


I had to use a composite of the stationary shot and the motion shot to bring back sharpness. If I had pushed, would have required WAY less editing.

whats funny is on the 2nd shot you did a great job on the ps but you didn't clone out the reflection of the car in the bumper.

^^ Cool- I might just go with the adjustable polarizing one for the versatility for now. If I do, I'll definitely post the results/feedback here.
