Made my 1200 appointment and got this email

Got an email saying

The following services will be performed:

Oil Service - C/s Perform Recommended 1200 Mile Service
*Standard Scope - C/s Perform Standard Scope Service

Appt Made 1/5 - Nmb

I currently have a 2012 m3 DCT. Does this email mean they'll also change the oil in the differential or just the engine??

thats just how they made the appointment. they will perform the service as required specific to your car.

kk thanks. Just wanted to know if I should prepare myself before going in on asking what should be done

Yes, you should definitely find out what needs to be done before going in. Don't assume your service advisor knows anything about your car (kinda ironic, isn't it?), otherwise you might be in for an unpleasant surprise.

i believe they are supposed to change both!!

I know that for DCT's they are suppose to change both engine oil and the differential. I'll be sure to go in with the manual to prove em both needs to be changed

I just dropped off my car for the first 1,200mile (2,000km) service. I asked the service advisor and he said both the engine oil and the differential oil will be changed. He also said that pre 2011 they only checked the diff fluid, not necessarily changed it. My car is a 6MT and he also said that the transmission fluid is for life ... dunno about that one.

The transmission fluid needs to be changed on your 6MT.
