Beer Glassware

A friend of mine who is an outstanding brewmaster is brewing me up a really good IPA. I had some of his previous batch last night and it was awesome. I've been looking for IPA glassware, but most that I find have lots of reviews talking about how fragile the glassware is. I've dealt with this issue with Riedel's "O" wine glasses. I love the look of them, but they're super fragile.

Anyone know of a decent, durable beer glass brand? Again, I'm specifically looking for IPA glasses, but just a brand recommendation would be helpful as well.

Rastal in Germany makes all sort of different kinds of beer glasses and steins.

I have a Dogfish Head Spiegelau IPA glass. I like it but the glass does feel very thin and fragile.

Much like your wine glasses, you have to break in any new beer glasses with a full glass of whole milk

you're welcome

When I think of IPA glasses I think of Teku. They're not durable like a pint glass you see in most bars but those pint glasses weren't made for drinking beer... they were just made for stacking and durability.

Teku currently has 6 glasses on sale for $49.99 w/ free shipping which is cheaper than you can get them on Amazon. https://tekuglass.com/product/42-5-c...ix-teku-glass/

It would be nice if the brewery gave you a glass with the purchase of a rack/case. They attached them with a cable tie to the rack.

In Germany and Belgium they (some) breweries attach a proper glass to the rack of beer, no additional charge. Living there for four years I accumulated a few glasses/mugs.

Good luck on your search for the right glass!
Cheers

When I worked in 51 Division we used to drink at Betty's. A proper pub. My last name is Murphy, I used to drink Murphy's stout there sometimes. Betty liked me and sent me home with 4 Murphy's pint glasses one night, I loved those things. My second ex-wife took them on me when we split.....thats some bullshit there. I'd like those pint glasses back, just sayin'.

I spent many hours drinking in pubs all over Ireland, I’ll keep my eyes out for them.

Well, if you believe Jim Koch's marketing spin, pick up one of Boston's "prefect pint" glasses. They spent something like $1M developing the damn thing: https://www.samueladamsstore.com/sam...T&dept_id=2100

Or, jut do what the rest of the world does and pour it in a standard American style pint glass; they are virtually indestructible which is why every bar and restaurant uses them. I'd bet money in a blind test, none of us could tell the difference in taste and aroma between an IPA served in a fancy tulip glass and one served in a good old fashioned pint glass.

True. I could just go buy a stack of 16oz Solo cups. But what's the fun in that?

I'm almost too old for beer. As much as I love it, it does mess with my digestive system.

I know what you mean, I don't drink it very often and when I do I only have one or two.

Rastel makes nice glasses. They are sold all over here in DE.

OP you could also look on Amazon.de website... Search for "Bier Glas", then put Amazon into English tab at the top bar.

Salty, I think a visit to Betty's Pub is in order. I'm sure she'd love to see you again... now that you are single!!

I have 12 of these (Marquis Pilsner glasses) but rarely use them any longer. Don’t drink beer like I once did and they kinda need to be hand washed.

For IPAs I prefer a good sized (12oz+) tulip glass.

Those Speigelau "IPA" glasses seem a bit gimmicky to me.

https://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...-tulip.415432/

"Perfect pint", AKA the Samual Adams glass, get some love, too.

I like the traditional pint glasses (iced up), but my wife has been using a 'cider glass' that she really likes. I think it might be this one - looks the same, and she remembered that it came in a cardboard tube. It is thin/fine glass, but has taken at least a few hits without breaking. Duh - just noticed that this is discontinued, so I hope I'm not sending you on a false hunt, but there may be other brands with the same shape https://www.drinkstuff.com/products/product.asp?ID=7830
