Nice - your dues are cheaper than mine. Mine are $495, but we have some marginally longer ranges. I think the longest is 150 metres if I recall correctly. Though there is talk about developing some of the land to make a longer range (which would be fantastic).

Because you RSO it is that rate, or you just happen to also RSO but you got that deal before?

At the club I'm at, if you have more than 2 shooters on the line, there has to be an RSO. Which any one of us can do (but means you aren't shooting obviously). Mostly because all of us got kicked repeatedly in the head while going through the membership process until we all agreed to take the RSO course. So unless the shooter is a guest, we are all qualified. But we don't get any fee decreases.

I think there probably are lower fees if you are an instructor, but the bar is pretty high to clear to be an instructor. Have to be pretty well known in the club as an exemplary member before they'll consider you.

That's just the cost there. Yearly is 70ish. Not fancy 25, 50 and 100 yard lanes is all with a clay pitcher and pistol lanes as well.

Never used Ballistics AE,but I've heard good things about it. I would think they would have something.

I use Shooter (on an Android). They use to have muzzle velocity adjustment.. But then they came out with something they called Velocity Calibration. I haven't tried it out yet.

This range is about fifteen minutes from my house. It's a nice place.

Relatively inexpensive. Seems like a competitor might be a Walter PPQ Match.

I don't have a PPQ Match, just a normal PPQ M2, but I love it.

It looks/feels out of the box what people have to send out to get modified and spend $$$.

I've actually used a PPQ and thought it was fantastic, but as great as it was I don't think it's a particularly great looking firearm.

But that's just my opinion

I always thought Walther handguns have been underrated with all the Glock, Sig and S&W.

Though I'd agree it won't win any beauty pageants.

What about the PPK would make it prohibited in Canada? The size?

Barrel length is less than 105mm (4.1"), also .32 Calibre is prohibited calibre which I have never understood.

So is .25 calibre.

Notice that it jumps from .22 (which with a very well placed shot could kill, but otherwise won't) up to .357 / .38?

I've an idiotic theory that the .25 and .32 calibres don't have much recoil (but are much more deadly than .22) and someone a long time ago whispered in the government's ear that these are calibres an assassin would pick as the lack of recoil could make shot placement very easy, along with followup, so make them prohibited.

Probably an idiotic theory, but it is the only one I can come up with. Otherwise, I don't understand it either.

My understanding is that .25 & .32 are almost exclusively fired through guns that are prohibited in Canada because of short barrel length/concealabiltiy.

ie: derringers etc.

Never looked into that - would make sense I suppose.

Not that it would be legal anyways, but I wonder what it would be like shooting one of those calibres through a silencer. Especially the .25 - I'd think it would be very silent, very easy to control.

Almost like....one was Agent 47 in Hitman.

I've heard there are videos on Youtube that show you how to make a homemade silencer for various small calibre handguns.....and I've heard the videos demonstrate them being used......and I've heard that some of the videos do a comparison to unsurpassed pistols........so I've heard and if you'd care to do some googling.

I remember in the old days they talked about litter bottle suppressors, etc.

Just note that if anyone thinks of doing this.. be sure your country allows it. In the USA.. it's Federal crime. Personally I think USA should remove suppressors from NFA. I prefer shooting suppressors.. and shooting next to people who are using suppressor.

They are illegal in Canada. Shame really, but it is what it is.
