having owned both I felt Android wrapped around how I wanted to use them and with iPhone I had to wrap around how they wanted me to use them. IPhone had better build quality but software updates would slow the phone to junk them.

I heard you don’t even have to type messages into an android, it texts for you.

I also heard the very spoken language, regardless of tongue, has magical powers of persuasion whilst using an Android.

So one of the companies we partner with uses iPhone for it's employees. We were provided one. Although friends of mine own iPhones and I've made calls and surfed the web on them. I never actually set one up. What an absolute pita!
So I needed to install Windows Office app for the preferred email the company uses. That process would take all of a few minutes on Android. With iPhone and Apple, it took 20+ minutes going through all sorts of security protocols and the setup was just unnecessarily difficult. Maybe I'm not familiar with the ecosystem? But Android is so simple with downloading and installing anything.

I will never grow tired of this classic!
I owned an HTC Evo at the time which made it even better.

Their way of determining which one is more used/sold is very sketchy.

IRL android has a much larger usage than shown in their diagrams if you look at sales data.
But that doesn't take back anything about that in 2020 Apple probably was the best selling brand according to a lot of sources. (I don't know if that's in amount of phones or in revenue).
Apple and Samsung constantly battle for first place in that.

Does popularity and preference solidify a better product?

Does Honda sell more Accord units than the BMW M8 Gran Coupe?

Does Applebees sell more alcohol than the exclusive speakeasy that operates on reservation only?

We're talking Android versus iPhone, goodness. Why don't we just talk about import versus domestic cars while we are at it? Jordan versus LeBron? Tyson versus Ali? Cats versus dogs?

i've been using android since i dumped my iphone 5s... but lets be real, more people have android because its cheaper on the bottom end.

flagship vs flagship they are both pretty much the same. i picked the galaxy over the pro max simply because all things being equal... it has 10x optical zoom.

But... does this really matter?! I use Apple products and favour an iPhone, you probably favour Android. Big deal! Both platforms have amazing pros, and both platforms have real PITA cons.

When I was in the office (and not doing the work from home thing) one of my colleagues was always trying to bait me with his Android-is-better-than-iOS crap. I just used to look at him and laugh

Both platforms are here to stay. So just use whatever you're happy with, people

Meh, I've been using Apple products since the 80s. I've had nothing but iPhones other than the one time I tried an Android phone a couple of years ago. I wanted to launch the thing into the Gulf of Mexico after about a week. Android just isn't as intuitive as Apple's OS.

This is one of my favorite lines from android fan boys

“my android phone is way superior to your iPhone and just as soon as I get it booted and working again I’ll prove it to you“

Exactly. I tried my best with android. I really did. I still use several of them for apps in my car. I have a older android-based Samsung S6 that runs my radar detectors and laser jammers in my G80 and I also have an S8 I use as a hotspot in both my G80 and Tacoma to give me a remote access to my dash cams. The S8 is also good for connecting to my personal electric vehicles like the Segway I own and electric unicycle‘s. But I would never use another android-based phone for work email, music or phone calls. Just too many problems.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Android other than security aspects I’ve mentioned on previous posts. And I used to be diehard Android until ios7 or so when the UI more or less began to catch up with Android from a functionality perspective. Yes, if you want to use your phone more or less like your desktop computer, maybe Android is for you (CLI, custom coding etc), but most of us just need to do the basic things with them which now are quite a few features.

I also like the fact that there’s a lot less OS fragmentation going on with Apple and you can keep a phone a lot longer than you typically can keep an Android while still enjoying the latest OS. I tend to replace every year so my family members get hand me downs and are still using them 4-5 years old on current OS. I think the iPhone 6s is able to run ios14 which was released in 2015. When you consider total cost of ownership, it becomes pretty low if you don’t constantly upgrade like me.

They tend to be very reliable and provide value to me. Not trying to convince anyone but that my view on it. Same as with macOS products. I’ve got a six year old iMac still running and on the latest OS. I can’t say that for any of the windows machines I have.

This. Just like my macbook my iphone just works all the time. I don't care about widgets and emojis and other stupid shit that Apple is now trying to copy from Android. I text, take pictures and surf the web on the go and that's about it. I want it to do those things flawlessly and don't really give a shit about other crap. My girlfriend had a few Android phones and she was always having issues with them. She would replace them every year, not to get the latest one, but because they had become unusable. I can't remember a single recent iphone that got slow or unusable on me.

Also the integration with other Apple products is another main reason for me to stay with iphone. The fact that I can text from any of my devices including my macbook I think is a feature that ALONE would keep me on iphone. I can also transfer pics to my macbook with 1 click. I have little to no interest in any of the "new" features on recent iphone releases and even less in those of Android. Even my friend who owns an IT company and is a diehard windows guy has an iphone.
