I'm afraid Audi is taking the lead this time with this new Q7 -:(

Read about the Plug In V6 Diesel E-Tron 2016 Model to debut in Jan 2016 with more than 500 torque and more than 400 HP!

Looks are subjective but I find the new Q7 somewhat boring and dull with the strange pop-up nav screen popping like a tree on an island. The XC90 seems like a rather interesting contender. Still need to see both on the road to form a real opinion. I did test drive the F15 X5 for the wife and it does not feel like a big step forward either, still feels like a previous generation vehicle. Maybe, at the moment, there is no great SUV.

I'm sure it will be. If Land Rover can drop over ~900lbs from theirs, then BMW can work some magic too I'm sure. Lol!

The exterior of the vehicle (based on the pictures) is okay.
It's not worse than the predecessor......but it doesn't look better either.

HOWEVER

That new interior is really something refreshing. I love it.

This new Audi Q7 shares the same general opinion with the new Volvo XC90 (exterior is okay/neutral BUT interior is downright stunning)

I find the new Q7's exterior to be absolutely hideous. It is so bland it could be a Toyota. The current Q7 looks great in 'S' line fashion, but this new abomination just looks like a bloated station wagon with the suspension set too high.
I'm really disappointed too as the drive trains, especially the diesel hybrid, will no doubt be excellent.

Hated the old one and this one looks worse!

I can't say the x5 is much better.

We need a larger Cayenne !

If the new XC90 has great build quality, a shake-up might be in the works in this segment.

Agree. The interior looks fantastic and the drivetrain, especially the plug-in hybrid, is intriguing. I'm not totally sure I like the exterior yet as I need to see the car in the flesh. I think it does look better in certain colors though.

Also needs improvements to drivetrain & NVH - the original 5 cylinder diesel auto XC90 was borderline dangerous due to the lack of response pulling out of junctions. The suspension noise entering the cabin was also off-putting.

Is it just me or are all of these new gen cars (Q7, XC90, etc.) very boxy in their styling?

Don't like the exterior of the Q7 as it's way too close to the VW Blue Cross. The interior seems fussy & bland at the same time and lacks the character of X5, Cayenne, etc.

XC90 would get my vote inside & out over the Q7.

The most desirable for me remains the Range Rover, but it's also the one I'd be least likely to buy.

I may be the outlier here but the interior looks cheaper compared to the one on the X5, and crap compared with the Range Rover.

It looks like an A6 interior with a bit more leather. Don't like the dash layout at all. Specs are good, but Range Rover saved over 900 lbs while maintaining off road capabilities.

The first Q7 was more of a trailblazer being the only 7 seater in this segment at that time. The X7 will be better than this and so will the next GLS.

I own the E70 X5 and in all fairness I prefer the new Range Rover, okay both cars aren't great 7 seaters but hopefully the X7 will be. I actually hate the look of the new Q7 and is anyone else bothered by the fact it has a huge transmission tunnel, I mean c'mon Audi, you're just asking the kids to ruin the carpet on it.

X7 will be built on a new platform (it will share it with the new 7 series) so it should not weight too much! But we'll see it in 2016?

I think the exterior looks better in certain colours but the interior appears to be a knock-out.
