For me, I feel like they are completely opposite things.
I only spend money on car parts that make a difference on my car. Things that increase performance and decrease my lap times on the track. I'd be willing to spend a lot for good parts, don't cheap out on stuff. You appreciate it when you pull a fast lap or feel the power when you hit the throttle. Appearance mods, I just stay way. A nice watch really serves no purpose other than showing off. You can buy a $5 quartz watch for telling time, no need for pricey stuff. But.. I do own a few nice watches, it's nice to have some since my car doesn't have any bling. lol

Come on. If he's talking about a $700 performance lip or a Victorinox, would you say the same thing?
The watch matters.

however for me it would be watches. i guess it depends on the car part too. if we are talking about a watch versus a bbk i would take the watch all day. besides it could keep most of its value and you can sell it off. car parts not so much depending on what it is and if you bought it new or used. |

A $8k watch doesn't do anything except look good on a wrist. It offers no performance advantage. Not to say it's not good, it's just not a practical choice.

If you need a watch that costs over $1000 to have a good time, you must live a boring life. On top of that, there are many great watches for under 1k.. If you're a true watch fanatic, you wouldn't bash $500-$1000 timepieces for some are classics and are made by very reputable watchmakers.

If someone need a watch to get girls, you're probably not attracting the right girls... I prefer not to advertise and rather work on referrals.

Sorry I am a die hard watch snob and there is absolutely nothing used even for under 2500 that isn't an embarrassment. That first sentence was a quote, forget who that that about a good time. Watches, like art, have classes. A 1k piece is like comparing "art" on the wall at mcdonalds to something in a French gallery. Might "look" ok but it's just not in the same league. As pretentious as it may be *** the guy that said " a Rolex on your wrist won't lower your lap times... Well your half right, a lot of guys I've raced against wear 70grand+ pieces and a HEAVY HITTER watch can lower your lap times. As a racer myself, having a serious watch helps relax and focus you mentally which is a lot of the game. When you line up on the grid with pole, and have a fucking Richard Mille under your glove you feel like a man on the moon.... Tell me that's not a mental plus Last edited by TheYoungConnoisseur; 02-17-2016 at 06:28 PM.. |

I really hope this is a joke. you clearly know nothing about watches and are just out to flash money if you think anything around 1k is a piece of shit and you need to spend 30k on a watch for it to be anything unless I'm making millions a year I'm not spending 30k to have guys envy me (you think girls give two shits?) Rather invest that money

Yeah me too, I'm thinking before I upgrade cars again I need to get one. It'll be a minute I'm sure. Or.... maybe a Tag Carrera for a Carrera, ya feel?

Meh. Lots of great timepieces across the spectrum. All good for their own reasons. That AP RO Bumblebee in your avatar is nice, but there are less expensive options that are nice too and plenty of more expensive ones too. About everyone I know that wears a truly "fine" timepiece chooses non-Rolex to avoid the behavior you are exhibiting. Makes me doubt. Hmmm... Oh well, to each their own.
