yeah it's a tough call to decide what's better: Max winning and taking the lead in the WDC or seeing a HAMtroll getting really butthurt...

With a big part of the W13 "figured out", it's all about setting up the car for race weekends - see how much more performance and race pace can be found. 75 points is a significant deficit to overcome now that RB seems to be finishing races and Ferrari losing one or both drivers but at least Mercedes can make it somewhat interesting with a lot of races left.

Hopefully Ferrari can figure it out. Feel for Leclerc because he was slowly putting together a great season only now to be let down but the car.

He had a great race, considering what happened to him.
He and RUS both had a good weekend, MERC is clearly improving the car. Their top speed is very good, porpoising seems less.
But I wonder how much of their budget and CFD time and windtunnel time has been blown on their development.

I think the biggest disappointments were SAI and Haas.
SAI not only because of that spin but also having a really really bad start, and that's not the first time this season.
And Haas didn't perform. Kmag making that stupid mistake (I see it more a Kmag mistake than a HAM mistake) and MSC also plummiting through the standings.

I wonder if the retirement of Zhou has a similar reason to the engine failure of LEC.

No DRS and Max still blitzed them all, shows the 18 is all conquering in race mode as the fuel goes down with his gentle touch on the bends to preserve the rubber..as 911 driver slow in then fast out

I wouldn't be too concerned with the overheating issues. I think it was reported in race that the water hoses were leaking, something that is easily fixable and not something more major.

I'm not on live F1 tv so I'll watch it shortly on ch4 tv.

I just read that both Mercedes PU's have been replaced .
But also that the PU's have been pulled to the max. HP output ...

Same for the Ferrari PU's ..

Couldn't have done HAM's one good at all with overheating on the new unit and ordered to use 50% throttle to just stay ahead of BOT.

...and still takes the victory.

As you seem to be rather unfamiliar with F1: feel free to check some info:
  • about the benefits of DRS + how to spot it to be active/inactive on an F1 car;
  • about how DNF favors competitors (examples: Azerbaijan 2021 - Silverstone 2021 - Bahrain 2022 - Australia 2022);
  • about team orders regarding Verstappen-Perez, Hamilton-Bottas, Vettel-Webber, Alonso-Massa, Schumacher-Barrichello, etc.
And about the embarrassment of getting off track: let's agree that it's less dishonorable if it's mainly caused by a gust of strong sea wind or by a competitor of another team, than by your own team mate. Mowing the lawn in 2016 at the same circuit - no gust of strong sea wind involved:

But I fully agree that Russell did a great job again, squeezing the best out of the W13. Whether the very talented 24 year young Russell is as capable as the 24 year young Hamilton, is debatable. But in 2022 he definitely outperforms the 37 year old Hamilton operating with the same gear, but with an older body. If Verstappen, Leclerc and Russell would all be driving the same car, the result would be unpredictable.

I think there was lack of grip with hards by the high tarmac temps .

Same for MAX . He lost 50 driver points by 2 DNF .

Yeah . Too bad for Ferrari and Charlie !

On the other hand : Sainz is a waste of time at Ferrari ...

Your comment during the race didn't age well, to say the least.

You now got a week to let it all sink in. New chance for you to hope for a DNF next Sunday in crash town: Monte Carlo.
