I was born in 1961, I turned 60 this past May and I've been retired 5 years. I've been married for 36 years, it just took me 3 women to get there.

Spending 3 days as a patient in our local ER waiting for a free bed upstairs a few years ago was an eye-opener. Curious if when you pull someone over for say speeding or not stopping completely at a stoplight or stop sign if any sort of leniency is considered based on other factors. For example, I have been pulled over 3 times in the 13 years I've lived in NC. Once was a state trooper, once by the county sheriff, and once by city PD. I've been given a verbal warning at each stop when I completely expected a citation for my infraction. There are four things that I've always wondered might make an officer lean in my favor. First, I'm a disabled vet and my license and tags show that. Second, I have a class A CDL. While I don't use it, I still maintain my DOT physical and the license is still valid. Third I have a CCW and each time I was carrying. I identified myself as a permit holder, stating where the firearm was and waited for them to direct me to retrieve my license from my wallet which is in my right rear pocket and the weapon is at my 4 o'clock. Finally, I have an FOP decal on the top corner of my window. It's just my parking permit for the FOP because I am an associate member and use the range often, but it says FOP on it.

This is really a question to help the internal discussion in my head about it, I'm not looking to go start a cannonball run after this haha. My wife was with me for each stop, and she taunted me when I was let off with a warning each time, so I'm looking for more perspective on it if you will.

I mean, you can’t keep the title of undefeated house champ at mariokart unless you keep the skills sharp. I still play N64 mariokart sometimes in addition to switch mariokart.

Sometimes a kid drops the occasional “ok boomer” and you just gotta be like “you gon’ learn today…”

Oh yes! The latitude is employed on every stop. In most cases I've already determined who's getting a citation and who's receiving verbal education before I even exit the vehicle. Attitude usually moves people who were in the education category into the citation or worse category. Occasionally it goes the other way too (…ex: yesterday I was determined to give the driver of a Toyota Sienna a ticket for completely rolling through a stop sign, but the elderly Asian lady was so cordial, apologetic and respectful that I didn't cite her).

Yknow... a friend of mine and his wife adopted a cute little Chinese baby a few years ago. I went to a brunch party at their house and one of our mutual friends who's Vietnamese pulled me aside and said:

"ugh, they're going to ruin that baby. They spoil her too much"

I said: "idk, they seem like they're just loving their baby"

She said: "not Asian baby, they cute and you don't discipline they get away with everything and ruin their life"
