Best New Years Eve Fireworks Show

Many cities put on great New Years Eve fireworks shows.

My favorite is Sydney, Australia. Check this out:

I said much the same thing to friends about Sydney earlier this evening. They really know how to put on a fireworks show. It helps that they have a fantastic venue for it too.

We had a chance to watch it from a boat on the harbor back in 2017. We were in Sydney and we had friends who had just sailed in. We passed on their invite so we could be back home. I'll always regret not staying and watching this show in person. Can you imagine begin on a boat in the middle of all this?

I have been albeit on a much, much smaller scale. Here in Halifax the fireworks shows are often set off from a barge in the middle of the harbour. I was out on a friend's boat for Canada Day fireworks once. It's a whole different perspective from nearly directly underneath them. That was quite a few years ago. They don't let civilian boats near that close anymore. Some foolishness about safety, pffttt.

As if the 12-minute finale wasn't enough, that fire curtain was just wow.

I liked parts of the one in Dubai as well.

I heard a 5-minute barrage of professional-grade mortars at midnight here from the direction of a nearby Bruderhof. Don't know if it was them or the professional fireworks production company based in our town.....

Must be some neighborhood in which you live. Make sure your fire insurance is paid up.

Happy New Year!

It was an hour straight, 11:30-12:30. Sporadic until 2AM after that, and from dark before that. I don't ever remember it being this bad. Scared the living shit out of one of our dogs. I'm all for celebrating, but damn... This was over the top.

Maui Hawaii, aerial fireworks are illegal but that doesn't stop the locals. these are all private people putting on their own show.

That's nuts.

Here's a photo of a house on Maui the morning after.

That fire was last year, sad situation but luckily the family was ok. It was started by fireworks that wernt disposed of properly with a bucket of water and left next to the building. it was a complete loss along with 3 vehicles. The community banded together and helped them get back on thier feet.
