What are you paying for Internet?

FMD man, it is just BRUTAL here. My ISP, Bell, won't budge and want to charge me $30 a month more to go from 50mbs to 100, and I need the bandwidth as it is choking.

Total is a stunning $128 a month for 100mbs. It's fucking crazy but when I shop around I am not seeing much better than that when i tally all the costs.

We have Spectrum 200mbs (actual is 237mbs) for $65.00 including tax and fees. We can get 400mbs for $20 more. Our previous option was $45 for 5mbs (speed usually was around 1.5mbs) before they came along.

In NOLA, $80/month for 1Gb and that includes all taxes and fees along with in AT&T's equipment fee of $10. At our home in SC, the same 1Gb is $70/month with AT&T.

You're right, that is f'n crazy man. For the record, I'm paying $70/mo. for 1GB fiber from AT&T. They threw in HBO Max ($15 retail) and $400 worth of prepaid Visa cards on top of that. Sorry to rub it in.

I couldn't be happier after jumping off the sinking Comcast ship.

Screw you guys. There's only 2 providers here, the rest are hacks so the two big guys just run a cartel. The other mob (rogers) charge $129 for the same service.

We're stuck with Mediacom. They charge $80/mo for our 100Mbs service. It can be pretty spotty sometimes, but the only other option is ancient DSL from the phone company that's way slower. The phone company is running a new fiber service to the neighborhoods in town, but we live out in the township, so I doubt we'll see that anytime soon. Luckily for us, the 100Mbs service, when it's stable, is plenty fast enough. But it can start to choke sometimes, especially in the early to mid evening when we're trying to watch the Olympics or other TV. It was up and down constantly during the SB the other night. If I report a problem, they send someone out during the day when it's always stable and claim I have a strong signal to the house, so it must be something inside my house like a bad coax cable. When I ask them why it is that the problems only happen in the evenings if it's a bad coax cable, they have no answer.

Well, there is more competition in the US, so hard to do a direct comparison.

For the record, I have Rogers / Cable, and it's 124.99/mth for 1 Gb down and 30 Mb up. This includes the modem which includes a WiFi gateway.

I had a backup DSL service which I cancelled. It was 65/mth for 25 Mb down and less than 1 Mb up. I cancelled that when we lost our 35/mth allowance from work.

If you're working at home, I find the upload speed also makes a difference, especially for video conferencing.

Seriously though, I could tell a difference for sure when I upgraded to fiber from my pseudo fiber offering from Comcast/Xfinity. Video conferencing will make you aware of that for sure. Of course if you have bandwidth hogging devices on at all times it makes a big difference as well. Now that I personally stream all of my content (cut the cord), it's important.

One issue i have is no direct fibre, it is fibre to copper in my neighborhood so this reduces options and limits me to 100mbs tops. Only saving grace is I claim it on our taxes so save 50pc.

Ours is $84.99 Spectrum monthly I think it is supposed to be 400/30 and it tests to about 350/25 typically. Fast enough, and reliable, for us. Wish it was cheaper but the option here is ATT and they just extended their fiber - to three blocks from us.

We pay $140/month for unlimited 500mb down here in OKC. But we both work from home, and I also do iRacing frequently, so we need the speed and bandwidth.

I pay extra for unlimited because we frequently went over the 1TB per month cap before....again since we both work from home. Streaming services, etc.
