Thought exercise: US map “Hunger Games”-style districts

i am in district 3 and i just dont see how we could lose... politics or no politics lol... lets make sure this fight happens in the winter too

Dude...we want summer. We WANT them to deal with scorching heat and mosquitos. That will incapacitate 1/3 of their "troops".

No f..g way WV and VA (minus NoVA, probably) gonna fight alongside the rest of D.5. Heck, even most of MD would bug out at the first opportunity.
So:
5 is as good as dead.
2 and 4 lose in playoffs.
1 and 3 for the finals, will go to game 7, probably

Why is KY in D3 and VA in D5? Makes no sense. VA might vote democratic, but so does GA, but we are nothing like folks up in the NE. We love guns and own most per capita

Wasn't there already a war between the northern states and the southern states? I heard it was civil but still extremely violent.

I'm in district 5 and I would have to join forces with district 4 for historic wins.
We'll leave the west coast alone. They have all those electric cars, they would never be able to make it to the battle on time.

Seriously though, D3 is obviously best positioned to survive and flourish long term. D4 and D5 will have pockets of survivors in the inhospitable North. So unless D3 wants to trek 1500 miles north to flush them out they will just hunker down up there and survive. This all seems very GOT~ish...

I somewhat misunderstood the OP and thought this was the objective as well. Which is why i answered District 3 wins because we can send FLORIDA MAN. There’s no better option for freestyle death match because every little thing FLORIDA MAN does is potentially deadly.

I'd also add, bottom 1/2 of Virginia is much different then NOVA...soooo (yea I lived outside DC for 34 years) District 3 would get a bit bigger.

Folks should look up gun per capita stats, its not even close

If we're sending teenagers I'd still say District 1 has a great shot. Tons of MMA fighters, 3-gun competitors, hell we even have an Olympic shotgun champion. We have most climates to train in except jungle / swamp (altitude and cold in the Rockies / Sierra Nevadas; desert in Death Valley / Arizona; beaches of CA). Tons of naturists who are all about hiking and picking mushrooms and living off the land, let alone a ton of hunters and conservationists.

I think it'd play out much like Hunger Games where our "champions" are trained from birth to win it for us, provided with all the best equipment, etc. And while we maybe don't win every year, we'd probably win more often than not.

Where does the fight take place? Each region could exploit a “home” advantage, but also suffer great loss of resources in the battle (as was the case in the US Civil War for the Confederacy). Are these border skirmishes or more like RISK where you take a territory and then must quickly assimilate and defend it?

Region 1 has a great tech advantage and can track movements in all other regions, plus has the data analytics (people and machines). So that needs to be taken out quickly by any competitor. Alternatively learn to spoof that tech.

Region 2 would want an alliance with either 4 for territory and more manufacturing, or 1 for that tech.

Parts of each region could splinter and join other regions as someone already mentioned.

The RISK approach makes this a much more interesting game for me!

What sort of gerrymandering is this?! Regions 2 & 4 have the deck stacked against them from the start wrt population density!

That said, we in Region 4:

1. have enough political corruption to challenge and take on any other region
2. farm enough dairy, meat, and fruit/veggies to feed ourselves
3. enjoy plenty of access to fresh water
4. are fairly well armed
5. have more than our share of far-side woke people to unleash on the other regions (particularly the Southern regions)
6. are so patriotic that even our dead participate in important enough activities
7. have a sizeable advantage during the winter months
8. have enough forest to distract the other regions' tree huggers

Doomsday option: We can always unleash the South and West sides of Chicago on everyone. Good luck!
