Getting the sense that Bay Area is like NY - expensive housing, way too many people, traffic is a joke (45-60 mins to go 3 miles). Depending on how things pan out, I would not mind moving to Denver.

+1

It amazes me that the police in South FL (especially Miami) don't really do anything when it comes to this. Maybe because they are too busy dealing with the numerous daily murders in NW Miami.

On another note, when the majority of people think of NY, they only think of the 5 boroughs. FWIW, I grew up in Queens then moved an hour north along the Hudson River. Upstate NY is beautiful with great scenery and driving roads. However, I don't miss the winter weather

Find a shop who will work with you. Tint meters not plugged into the computer. De Blasio got to go though. Between this tint meter crap and his battle with como it's gotten bad. Stupid troopers all over the city now.

I lived in NY all my life and while most comments here are to be true I can't find myself living anywhere else. Most of my family and friends are here. I've visited every major city and while I thought of moving to LA, they have there own set of problems there which I think are worse than NYC.

My cousin who is a lawyer in NYC asked me about this recently.

I told her the law was unenforceable because it is ambiguous with regard to what spectral range the 70% transmissivity is referring to, but I think you'll have a hard time convincing a lawyer to go after the state's definition of "light" as meaning the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

usually 20-30% depending on the vehicle. My Ram came with 25ish

35% would be fine in the fronts under the law. It states you can have 30%

The only thing new is the fact that cars have to be inspect for Tint level. From I can tell NY is following the federal automotive law on tint, Nothing new there car will just have to pass inspection to verify the car was not modified from original.

The real question, why the change in inspection law, since under state law if you had tint on the window you would fail anyway since state law prohibited modifying the car from factory original on any items with is safety related which include the windows.

I am willing to bet the reason for the change in the law and the fact inspection station now have to buy the two piece tint meter, it is to address court cases where Police were profiling the car had illegal tint and pulled people over and the police had no way of proving the tint was illegal which make the traffic stop illegal.

The reason I suspect this, PA has similar tint rule, and police were using it to pull people over, problem was there is no motor vehicle law for having illegal tint it was an inspection requirement and Police can not legal inspect a car so most time the tint ticket got thrown out since the Police had no way to prove tint was illegal since the car had valid inspection sticker.

East Orange, oof!! My grandfather grew up in Irvington after immigrating from Italy at 6 years old. He did a ton of masonry work in the town before the newark riots which turned that entire area of essex county into garbage.

Quite a shame actually.

Find me a replacement job in Private Equity real estate and i'm in!!

LOL, It is amazing how much you can have in common with a stranger on internet! My father was a first generation Italian American after my grandparents moved here from Italy.

Yes this would work as well. It's a shame people have to do this to have fuckin tints on their vehicle. Absolutely stupid.

So true!
I did a 360 on I635 in an ice storm but recovered it without damage. It was pretty cool looking at drivers in the other lanes as I was pacing them but perpendicular to their vehicles. It was a looooonnnnnnggg 360 degree spin.

Careful w/ the medical exemption - I think that it has to go on your DL and official record, and then you NEED to be in a tinted car to drive legally - like needing glasses or hand controls. Better to just 'convince' a shop to pass you, and probably easier to find than an ophthalmologist willing to risk their license (they aren't like those 'narcs-R-us' pain clinics that keep popping up).
